Heard a rumor on this about a week ago... sounds like it's true:

Bob Evans HQ on way to New Albany

Gov. John Kasich will visit the restaurant chainÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s existing HQ at on S. High St. in Columbus on Thursday in what commercial real estate sources expect will be an announcement that the company's main offices will move closer to CEO Steve DavisÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ residence in New Albany.

Ouch! for Columbus, probably good news for Ohio (expansion). Wexner atleast helped keep them local.

I agree. I think it's a stupid move to move the corporate offices to New Albany, just because your CEO lives there. He's running a restaurant, NOT a University, which would require you to live closer to your job.

The CEO of a company I used to work for moved our headquarters from Miami to his hometown of Chicago. We should just be happy that Bob Evans is still located in Central Ohio.

The Bob Evans farmsite is located on RT.35 in Rio Grande. Which means to get there you take 23 to 35. I'm guessing that the current location may have something to do with the proximity to the home of the CEO who was in office at that time. The precedent was set long ago.

I'm not a fan of the move, just a funny thought that I had.

I always thought their headquarters was a little out of place down there. Too bad, it's the nicest, and most well maintained building on the strip there.

That kind of makes me sad. I am sure that the new space will be nice and new, but the HQ always had charm. I worked there for awhile and would go in the shopping center and get awesome Chinese Food and browse the Thrift Store.

Wait. Bob Evans got $8 million in STATE incentives to move from the South side to the NE side? After the company had already expressed no intention to leave the state? How is Kasich not pissed about this?

Bob Evans was offered an incentive package from the state that includes: a Research and Development Investment Loan of $3 million; a Ohio Job Creation Tax Credit of $2.4 million; a Research and Development Investment Tax Credit of $1.05 million; a Roadwork Development (629) Account (to the City of Columbus) for $750,000; a Rapid Outreach Grant for $250,000 and an Ohio Workforce Guarantee of $250,000, said Bethany McCorkle, development spokeswoman.

Bob Evans said that it was considering moving to Texas. Not sure why the Dispatch left that out. It seems like an important little detail, whether it's true or not:)

Bob Evans also manages Southland Mall (there are still offices and the like there). I'm wondering how that property will be affected by the move.
