Does anyone have details on why Blazer's in the Short North closed? I saw a court order on the door after they moved everything out.

Yeah, I saw a moving truck there the other day too. Although I only went once I know this has been a longstanding fixture there and I'm sad to see it go. Would be nice to also get something to fill the long-vacant old Open Book space there too on the corner of 5th.

I just did some researching - looks like they got evicted.
Case No. 2011 CVG 032625
Set out was scheduled for the 19th, so Karen must have had the trucks there to move all of the stuff out before the bailiffs arrived.Posted 8 months ago # -
Well damn, that was an institution, really sorry to see them go. @Placebohigh I did notice that the awnings and outside of the former Open Book space had been painted, so I assumed that a future tenant was in the works.

This is indeed sad news. I only visited the place once or twice, but when I lived in a small apartment above (about a decade ago), they were very nice about holding UPS and mail packages for me until I came home from work.

While outside, I wandered over the that corner space and asked what was going on (There were several painting inside and out) If I remember correctly (it had been a long day at that point) I though he mentioned some sort of clothing store. I could be wrong.

I work down the street, the land lord had wanted Karen out for a long time, he did some very shady things including not providing her with heating assistance or warning when they ripped out her ceiling and replaced it to get it up to code for the new condo's upstairs. They also raised her rent several times in a very short period right after she renewed her liquor license so a few months later she couldn't make rent. She kept the license moved everything out (yes she was evicted) and is currently looking for a new location, so I wish her best of luck.
Also as for the space on the end, there is a used clothing store opening there, there have been some city licensing issues and they have had to push back there open date but other than that they are ready to go.
A new tattoo shop on the other side of blazers opens today as well its called Black Market.
On the end of that strip a hair salon is going in within the next few months, all in all that side has developed nicely, especially with the short north stage opening next month and the coffee house

Wasn't Black Market the name of that clothing store in Clintonville?

Oh man, that sucks - I mean I only went in the place once like 10 years ago and left a second later when it creeped me out, but it was like totally my favorite place in that part of the SN.

I had contacted her about what I thought was to be her new store reopening across from Rivet only to be the bearer of bad news. Not sure if everyone checked into the fictitious name process.

I'm curious. What kind of city licensing issues can a clothing store encounter?
