Park soon will be home where bison can roam

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The bison will roam western Franklin County in a few months.

Metro Parks is spending $155,000 for a fence at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park and $29,000 to hire TRIAD Architects to design an observation tower and shelter for the six to eight bison scheduled to arrive this fall.

It also is spending $35,000 for other site improvements, including a well and watering troughs.

Didn't Anheuser Busch have a small herd of bison roaming around their brewery property on Shrock Rd. many years ago?

Bison are coming 2nd or 3rd week of December according to Metro Parks Spokesperson Peg Hanley. On WOSU Allsides today, Nov 19 in the 11:00 hour (about 22 min after)

I got to see some bison down at the Land Between the Lakes (KY) two summers ago. They were pretty sweet.

Anything tastes good grilled/smoked properly with some sauce. Bison are no exception.

But they're also badass lookin' critters and I can't wait to seem them roaming 'wild' in the park land.

Of course it's not out west, where you would see heards and heards of Bison. Yet thats pretty sweet. Maybe we can talk to ODOT about putting a 3C rail extension right past the park, so passengers can see the Bison. Ha, I'm just kidding, we all know the 3C will get killed. At least we'll have Bison!!

This is pretty cool. Can't wait to go down and see them. Anytime I go to the zoo I'm always shocked when I look over and see one standing on the hill behind a "fence" that they could barrel through on a whim. Observation tower should be neat too.
