Bikes illegal in Goodale Park?

My bike is my transportation.
About a week ago, I was taking a leisurely ride through Goodale Park on a Sunday night around 7pm. While riding through the park, I slow down knowing full well that there are a number of pedestrians walking. I respect my neighbors and appreciate the diverse crew of people in the park.
I preceded to ride past a walker at 3 mph (I have a speedometer). While I passed the guy with his dog he exclaimed...
"If you hit me or my dog, I will f**king call the cops".
I was taken aback, as this is the first time a person has screamed at me for riding my bike. He said that it is illegal to ride my bike in Goodale Park and that I am a menace to society. Not only that, he was yelling at me like I was some sort of criminal. I calmly thanked him for ruining an otherwise great day and went on my way.
Does anyone know if riding your bike in Goodale Park is illegal?
I should have mentioned that the walker did not have his dog on a leash. :) Next time, I will gladly wait while he calls the cops on me for riding my bike, and laugh when the police wonder why the hell they wasted their time.

I think technically those are pedestrian paths - and as we have already proven in other threads - it IS illegal to ride on sidewalks in the city of Cols.
However - that guys seemed a little sassy. Sorry he ruined your ride.

I believe it's illegal to ride your bike in the parkÃ¢â‚¬Â¦but I can't believe the guy was so hostile right out of the gate.

A cyclist ran over my dog in Schiller Park. He turned out to be OK and the rider was genuinely sorry - but I definitely see the dog walker's point, though he seems to have over reacted. YOU may have been riding safely. But there are many others who don't. While I have no idea whether it's illegal, I'm not even sure why you would want to ride through the center of the park and take a chance with that many moving obstacles, some of which are very small or dart around a lot. Just my two cents.

it is not a good idea to ride your bike on the sidewalk, they are congested. that said I wish the dog owners would be more responsible about their dogs' behavior in the park. We clearly need a leash law in this town.

Next time you see the guy, tell him to pick up every ounce of dog shit in Goodale and in turn you will keep all cyclists out of the park.
Also ask him to keep dogs away from me when I am discretely consuming illegal smokables/beverages in Goodale. I am allergic.

I carry myself pretty well in public, look respectable, act respectable etc. Sounds like you do the same.
If someone spoke to me like that I'd say it was good cause to drop an EFF bomb on them and inform them about the leash laws. Hell perhaps even offer to make the call for him.

exactly. just as there are no laws against riding a bike in a park. (excluding sidewalks but the op was not specific)
I guess what I'm saying is if the guy is gonna scream and act like an asshole then be one back to him. If he's throwin bs about riding bikes in a park then throw back some bs about a leash law. Chances are he's a moron, since normal people don't just start cursing at strangers for little reason.

I guess my understanding of the law is that it requires you to have your dog "under control" at all times, which could either be through a leash or a verbal command.
There is a dog area though in Goodale where dogs are allegedly welcomeÃ¢â‚¬Â¦I don't know that those dogs are necessarily under control though.
Kind of a slippery slope, really. I can't imagine that guy taking some proactive stance against Subes' "threat". I mean, if he's just talking hypothetical situations, I could suggest a few to the dog walker guy that he might be concerned about.

ha, I asked the same question here: http://www.columbusunderground.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=138967&highlight=#138967 and didn't get much of an answer. (Notably, I had to work the night of the B2WW lecture, so I missed that as well).
So you're not the first to get yelled out, but the verdict is still out as to whether it's just one disgruntled guy.
My guess is that, since they are considered "walking paths" it's probably technically illegal to ride on the sidewalks, but I would have to imagine that the grass is fair game. Especially if you're riding with due caution to peds, etc.

Bikes are not allowed on the pedestrian paths in Schiller or Goodale park. Leashes are not required in Schiller or Goodale Park. The guy was a dick, but he was also right.
Fact is, I see about a half dozen cyclists blasting through Schiller a week at very fast paces, past strollers, dogs, etc. Additionally, the dogs at Schiller are usually in a specific area that's easily avoided...particularly when you're not supposed to have a bike there in the first place.
MOST of the people I see biking through Schiller are courteous...but courteous or not...it's not a place to ride your bike.
