This is just a heads up, but in the last week I have known 3 people, including myself, who have had bicycles stolen in the Grandview/5thxNW area. In all cases the bikes were locked up in backyards. One of the U locks was found and it looks to have been broken with a car jack.

Don't forget to file a police report, make the rounds to local bike shops (Handy, Once Ridden and Retagit especially since they deal with used) and Third Hand.

Thanks LO2W
For everyone else please remember to take a photograph of your bicycle and write the serial # on the back of it. I have also been told it is a good idea to put your name and contact info on a piece of paper and then put it in a ziplock bag and stuff it in the seat tube of the bicycle. Without a serial number there is little the police can do.
Since posting this I have heard of others who have had bikes recently stolen in the area.
To whoever is doing this...karma is a bitch.

You can buy sticker for your bike with the BR logo. One goes on the top tube and there are 2-3 others to place on the bottom bracket and chain stays. Registering your bike is free and the stickers are meant to alert bike shops that the bike is registered and they can check it out online.
Mine were included with the chain lock I bought from them.
(thanks, just reminded me I needed to update that info on my bike)

I got my bike stolen out of the common basement when I lived on King last year. The basement is supposed to be locked but I'm sure somebody left the door open or something.
