So...unfortunately I have plans and may miss it...but who's watching, who's winning...discuss!
BTW, the HBO specials that have followed the training of De La Hoya and Mayweather have been great.

Isn't Oscar De La Hoya older than Rocky at this point? Seems like he's been around forever.
I won't be watching this... I've never really been a big boxing fan, and even when I KIND of followed things, it was only the heavyweights, Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, Bowe - that era. Now I don't even know who the heavyweight champ is!
I'll predict that this one either goes the distance, or gets stopped because of a cut. I think both of these fighters have pretty much demonstrated that they've got pretty strong jaws.
Basically the heavyweights suck now. That's been replaced, however, by having 6 or 8 guys in the mid-weights that are pound for pound some of the best boxers ever in the game.
If you ever wanna see some amazing non-heavyweight fights, I could give you some good recommends...but start with the Ward v. Gatti trilogy...which is just insane. Basically everytime you've watched a Rocky type movie and seen guys stand toe to toe and just wail on each other and said it's fake..well, it's not always fake.
Does the winner of this match have to fight Rocky??
Unfortunately I believe the real life Rocky would have a tough time getting a boxing license at this point...
I think that DeLa Hoya is gonna take the fight.
Do you know of anyplace that is showing the fight? It's always better to watch it in a bar somewhere.
Pockets on Kenny is where I normally go if I don't order it myself, chances are they're showing it.
I know nothing about boxing, but a friend who does is getting the fight this weekend. If not for him, I'd hardly know what's going on.
However, after watching a 5 min. ESPN promo about it, I can now say I at least have a rooting interest. I'll be cheering on De La Hoya to shut up that POS Merriweather...
I realize it's all schtick, but as an outsider I just see a guy who needs a good ass-kicking.
The wife and I were planning a party of cinco de mayo at our place, but I'm ordering the fight anyway, and if people don't like it they'll meet my left hook.
Oscar is my pick to win, but it's going to be a close one for sure.
Ha! Mayweather / Merriweather. Same difference. Do I know my boxing or what!
Watching a marathon of the reality training show on HBO now, and have to say...Mayweather's handspeed is INSANE. It's gonna be a great fight, I think there's a genuine dislike going on, plus the controversy of Oscar's long time trainer being Floyd's dad and all that...this will be big.
mexico loves mayweather
