Slate has been running a regular column of Bidenisms. It's a hoot. He speaks pretty WELL, just... kinda zany.
They've been doing Palinisms too, but those are mostly just word misuse and other simple errors. not as funny.
Biden
Cheney
Gore
Quayle
Bush the Elder
Mondale
er... not exactly a stellar line-up of America's finest. Although some are better than others certainly some are brighter than others.
Remember Dan Quayle? There's a man with a gift for words...
my favorite:
"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."
-- Vice President Dan Quayle winning friends while speaking to the United Negro College Fund, 5/9/89 (reported in Esquire, 8/92) (reported in the NY Times, 12/9/92)
Al "Lockbox" Gore. Until he lost (by some accounts) the 2000 election was the very picture of a cardboard cutout of a politician. Seriously I met him in person and have a picture where I'm standing next to... what looks like a cardboard cutout of Al Gore. He's TALL, btw. He's an articulate guy, but his (now ex) wife, Tipper and her PMRC didn't do him any favors in a lot of people's eyes. I'm sure it cost him a few votes in 2000. Anyone remember the PMRC hearings with Frank Zappa and Dee Snyder?
Mondale... man... what can you even say about Walter Mondale?
well, I couldn't really remember much about the guy so I went to wikipedia just to see what the peanut gallery has to say... turns out not much beyond what committees he served on and the utter trouncing he received at the hands of Cowboy Ron in the 84 election.
The less said about Richard "Dick" Chaney the better. Ey Carumba. This guy always strikes me as just plain paranoid and mean. Not a huge fan of safe firearms practices either apparently.
Not gonna say nothin' about Bush the Elder. He wasn't the worst or the best. I barely remember what he did as VP. But... he probably still has good friends in the COMPANY from when he was director, so...best not to go there anyway.
These are the only ones I really remember. I didn't really bother with politics much before age 10. :)
