Seriously...the insane level of animosity that some of the bikers are kicking out is making me hate.

?
Where, by chance, is this that you are referring?

But you already tossed me from your friends list for wearing capris.

lmfao
What exactly has been happening lately that's got you so annoyed?
militant bikers are nothing new but i agree they are becoming increasingly more vocal and noticable
Militancy? Bah, it is more a constant whine.
Here is my counter:
320 mi x 70+ cyclists over 4 days across Ohio
1 flagrant potentially lethal driving incident I saw
1 " " " " " I heard about
<12 driver incompetent/dickish moments
>100 drivers who stopped when they didn't have to, passed carefully, waved and generally acted like nice human beings
A pretty damn good ratio. In fact, I daresay I encountered more issues during the car trip up I71 from Cinci to home.

Last night around dusk I got in my car to make a quick food run. I start up, roll down the windows, and look around before pulling out into the street. I wait for a cyclist to pass by and when he does. He says to me, "I dare you to try." and just keeps rolling by.
Talk like that if you want to be made to eat your own bicycle seat.

Wow that's pretty f-ed up

Me too, Ro! I have a bike and a car and I'm always careful in my area of downtown, there are lots of amateurs riding their bikes and you have to be careful. Sunday my car was parked on the street and I saw a cyclist about a block away so I got into the car and waited until he passed. I could have pulled out of the space before he got there but it seemed more polite to wait until he was safely by.
As he passed me, he gave me the finger.

These stories are crazy. Where are these guys? Is this a certain area of town? I've never had an issue like that. I did almost end up with a pretty blond girl on a bike as a hood ornament in GV, honked at her because I was SO close to hitting her and she acted like I assaulted her or something. It was totally her fault - yet I still managed to feel guilty about it.

My entire day on Saturday was filled with incidents like this.
Speed racer on bike almost runs over Bugsy at Schiller as he pedals about 30 mph down the walking path...
Tool comes racing up inside my right turn onto Thurman from Jaeger, slaps my window like I was doing something wrong...
Ending with a jackass turning left from as far right on the street as you could go in front of myself and two other cars...and flipping me off because I honked.
These are the kind of stories that don't make me feel bad when karma lands a graceful bitchslap on some idiot cyclist.
People can be idiots no matter what vehicle they're driving/riding.

True. Karma does not discriminate.
I'll try to keep my mouth shut, for the most part. A few idiots, the apples that fell far from the tree, don't represent the larger community of cyclists that are actually working to make things better for all here in Columbus.
I nearly got hit by a driver the other day. The road has a slight curve into 3 lanes at a traffic light. A left lane, a through lane and a right turn. Guy buzzes past me to get into the left, then as I am holding my line and coming to the through lane, decides he is in the wrong lane and jumps over-almost clipping my back wheel. I've had a Columbus Public School bus driver yell at me and another individual get in my face because he couldn't make a right turn at a stop sign (his perception, not reality). 3 incidents in about 5-6 months of riding around. Do I lump the rest of you into these 3? No. Like Andrew Hall, I recognize the favor falls more to the good drivers-the ones that give good passing distance, treat you like another vehicle and so forth.
I will say that, unlike most communities, we are pretty proactive in trying to find solutions. There have been discussions popping up on CB the last month or 2 about how to help new cyclists obey the laws and cycle proper, how to work with the larger community and other things. Come on over and get involved in some of these and see that we're not all evil little hell spawns.
so cyclists get road rage too eh?
when someone gives you the finger, smile and blow em a kiss. seriously, try it sometime. remember these purveyors of human powered transportation are doing their part in lowering demand for gas.

I'm sorry, but like didn't you like so un-facebook me for like some unknown reason? If so, I like so can't reply to you.

And I drive my car about once a week, but you don't see me taking every opportunity to tell everybody else that there's something wrong with them and their communities if they drive more often. Shut up about it already.
