Next month, you have the chance to not only hear Claire Holden Rothman read from the book that landed her a spot on the prestigious 2009 Scotiabank Giller longlist, but you can also meet Rothman herself.
The Montreal author will kick off Hear & Now, a new Worthington Libraries series cosponsored by the Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center that will bring emerging and established writers, like Rothman, to town.
Although her short fiction has appeared in numerous literary periodicals and she has published two short story collections, The Heart Specialist, is her first novel. Written about one of Montreal's first female doctors, it was called "brilliant" by Publishers Weekly.
Tickets for Rothman's February 9 reading can be purchased for $15. For $20, ticket holders are also invited to a wine reception with the author.
Tickets are available now at the McConnell Arts Center, 777 Evening St.; by phone at 614-431-0329; and online at mcconnellarts.org/wp/events.
