Having a small garden this year in Vic Village. Was wondering where the CU gardeners like to buy their plants? I'm thinking tomatoes, zucchini, peppers and cilantro.
Thanks!

Friend recently referred me to Fisher Greenhouse, which I'm going to definitely try this year.
I'll be picking mine up soon from Zettler for the second year in a row. :D
I get mine from the OSU Chadwick Arboretum sale May 7th -9th
link to site and flyer for the sale
They have loads of different types of veggies.
I look forward to the Chadwick sale every year--a good selection of heirloom tomatoes. The plant sale at the Historical society is the weekend before this I think--it's decent too but doesn't have the overall selection.
FYI: Boulevard Gardens is closed:
Baker's Acre which now has Concrete Jungle right in the neighborhood sells some nice things
the Straders on king is not far from VV also.. just fyi
I think the Clintonville farmers market will have starters this weekend
I have been buying from Oakland Nursery on Oakland Park. for years.. but only if I have trouble starting from seed. My garden is in already.. tomato's a foot high and first harvest of lettuce probably this weekend. Peas about 6 inches high.. bean just started to poke thru the ground!
I buy from either Oakland Nursery or the plant sales at the farmers' markets (Clintonville as was mentioned, or Worthington which is on May 9.) I get my herbs from Somerset Herbs at the North Market farmer's market - just replaced my entire herb garden for under $25.
Got a whole bunch of plants from Zettler in the ground yesterday:
- 4 Red Bell Pepper Plants
- 4 Yellow Bell Pepper Plants
- 6 Jalapeno Plants
- 4 Banana Pepper Plants
- 6 Roma Tomato Plants
- 4 Beefsteak Tomato Plants
- 6 "Cherokee Purple" Tomato Plants
We should hopefully have enough tomatoes and peppers to feed an army this summer. I may go back and pick up some Cucumber plants later this week (they were sold out yesterday) if I can find the room for them out in the yard. Maybe pick up some Cilantro as well.
:D
Bump, time to buy your seeds. Many things need seeded indoors come late March.
