Best Fashion Store of 2012: Tigertree

For the second year in a row, Tigertree has topped our annual reader survey as the best fashion/apparel store in Columbus. This Short North boutique celebrated five years in 2012, having quickly grown in popularity and in size (now in their third location, each larger than the last).

Best Nonprofit or Charity of 2012: The Mid-Ohio Foodbank

For the second year since introducing the category, The Mid-Ohio Foodbank has won our readers’ votes as the best nonprofit or charity in Columbus. The Foodbank provides hunger relief to Central Ohioans and collaborates with over 500 other food pantries, kitchens and shelters to distribute food to those in need.

Best Coffee of 2012: Stauf’s Coffee Roasters

One new category that we added for our Readers’ Survey in 2012 is Best Coffee. And we felt justified in introducing it this year since several new cafes and roasteries opened this year, including Mission, Hemisphere Mobile Coffee Cart, Grandview Grind and One Line, just to name a few.

An “everyday restaurant” is exactly what it sounds like. It’s an establishment where you could potentially go every day of the week and not get bored. The menu has to be delicious, the prices reasonable and the consistency a quality that brings you back often.

Best Community Ambassador of 2012: Mayor Michael Coleman

In 2012, Mayor Coleman helped lead the charge to celebrate 200 years of Columbus, and politically stuck close to many of the basic quality of life issues including blight demolition, curbside recycling, street repairs and education reform. Oh, and he also mentioned once or twice that Columbus should have more swagger too.

While the SJT could potentially written off as a neighborhood bar specific to the Italian Village neighborhood, it’s become known as a bit of a go-to place for those looking to hang out with friends in the Short North vicinity without the bustle and crowding of meeting somewhere on High Street proper. Additionally, St. James lures in customers with the use of weekly food truck specials that get parked outside and offer dine-in shelter inside the bar.
