I've got to compile a list of the 10 best films of the year for my critic's group, The Central Ohio Film Critics Association. [homepage]
There are a bunch of categories, but the toughest is always the best-of list. Here's my pre-list of favorites.*
Aqua Teen Hunger Force (by far the best film of the year and the most telling critique of American consumer culture since Jean Beaudrilliard's latest anthology) [full review]
Michael Clayton
Superbad
Knocked Up
Reservation Road
The Bourne Ultimatum
Beowulf
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
Transformers
Futurama: Bender's Big Score (actually haven't seen this yet, but I just got a screener in the mail today; am banking on it's awsomeness)
(*I'm fairly behind on watching some big-name films, and I'll be entrenched in my bedroom watching screeners until the new year.)

I loved Knocked Up, Superbad, and Transformers.
I also liked Across the Universe.
I haven't seen Beowulf yet, but I plan to.
And I'm also excited to see how The Mist is... I'm seeing it tomorrow.

Both of these were strong.
I saw Beowulf, it was ok, but not "best of" material I think. Superbad and Knocked up were superb for comedies IMO. I think I would have to put Ratatouille on that list too.
I am about halfway through Benders Big Score. It is pretty good. The songs in it are forced though and not very funny (sans Kwanza Bot rap).
Here are what I think would be the best films I saw this year:
Into the Wild
No country for old men
American Gangster
Eastern Promises
3:10 to Yuma
Bourne 3
Harry Potter 5
The Namesake
Die Hard 4 (seriously, it wasn't bad)
Thats all I can think of now. There are more, but I always kind of forget the first 3 months of the year.

I thought Knocked Up sucked, and would definitely include American Gangster instead.
Can't speak for 3:10 to Yuma yet, still haven't seen it, but Rescue Dawn was pretty damn good too.

Core is right. Knocked Up sucked dick. It just wasn't funny.
Superbad was hiliarious.
No Country For Old Men was great.
3:10 to Yuma was excellent.

I actually think I like Knocked Up better than Superbad. I felt the problem with the 40 year old virgin (same director) was you expected this raunch fest (which it was) but about halfway it turned into a romantic comedy, which I was not expecting. Knocked Up I felt addressed this by not trying to masquerade or mis-represent itself before it came out and I thought it was very well put together in general. (aka it had a plot)
Then again, comedy is so subjective you could ask 100 different people about the same thing and get a different answer. Either way it seems to of been a critical success.

I was disappointed with Knocked Up.
I liked
RATATOUILLE
Surf's Up
Blades of Glory
I think those are the only ones I saw from 2007 that are not foreign or documentary.

Bourne Ultimatum was my favorite of the year.
Also, I know this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I liked Stardust. Had some of the same campy feeling that The Princess Bride did (not quite that good, admittedly, but worth watching more than once IMHO).
Pirates III, Spider-Man 3, and Transformers were all worth watching.
I was a little disappointed with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Don't think I saw too many other films this year.

I do want to see Stardust. Hopefully get to check it out soon. I didn't really care for Pirates 3 or Spidey 3 (although I don't regret seeing them on the big screen). Transformers was also fun.

I see maybe three movies in the theater. That said, my vote is for The Darjeeling Limited. Wes Anderson never fails me.

Spidey 3 was not as good as 1 or 2. I think it was still worth a matinee admission to see on the big screen, though. I thought Pirates III was better than Pirates II.
Oh, and another disappointment was Fantastic Four: ROTSS. Really. Bad script, bad acting.
I want to see Ratatouille and Balls of Fury (just because I'm a ping pong geek).
I'll also second the earlier question about Pan's Labyrinth ... that was good, but for some reason I thought it was older. I know I was watching it on DVD, not in the theaters, earlier this year. That may not mean much given how fast they get releases out now, but for some reason I've got it stuck in my mind that it was last year. Could just have been early this year, though, given that we're in December now.
