I just moved to the Short North, and I'm dying to get a strong good full body massage. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place and/or a particular person who does them well?

...there's this place out by the airport...

The only time I've ever had one was at the place built into the Macy's at Easton up on the top floor. It was called Ecotage at the time, but I think the name might have changed.
It was very relaxing and not too expensive either. Might want to check it out.

I've gone to the Lifetime Fitness at Easton. Price wasn't too bad (can't remember specifics, though) and I thought it was great. Helped restore my neck and shoulders after writing my dissertation. The Lifetime in Dublin should offer them, too.

Karen Balot, whose office is on the Worthington Square. She does hot stone, shiatsu, massaging w/ her feet, etc. There is a world of difference between the casual massage and a full-on therapeutic massage. When I was cycling 50+ mi several times a week this summer, she really helped.

Colleen at Mukha in the Short North is awesome.

I would suggest contacting the Polarity Center on Neil & 5th....many many bodyworkers with different expertise...(614) 299-9438. I have gone to 2 different people there...Haroula is awesome. I go to an amazing massage therapist and Rolfer, Michael Waller 614-202-2269...he will come to your home or go to him at Focused Fitness Pilates Studio on Nationwide & Neil. I have gone to another massage therapist up in Westerville at Healthy Outlook..so so. Another one in the Short North is JB Stanforth 614-395-7630. Depends on what you are after. I like deep, trigger point, intense...not paying to be petted by someone. The worst massage ever was at Marengo I was sooooooooooooooooooo irritated by the time they finished thank goodness it was a gift certificate. My young son gives better massages.

I was going to saw check Mukha too. The massage I had at Ecotage was done by a girl who moved there. But that was also a couple of years ago.

Check out Body Wisdom on Indianola. I used to be the receptionist there, all the therapists were very talented. It's kinda over by Studio 35, and very calming inside.

One of my friends is a Licensed Massage Therapist, who works in Merion Village. She does a very strong threaputic massage... totally helped me with some stress headaches a few months ago.
I'll message you with her contact info.

Another recommendation for Mukha -- I haven't used them, but my wife is crazy about the place.

Do you know if Rachel still works there?

No, sorry I don't. She was good though! I know Lark is still there.

My fav would be Melinda Cooksey. She has an amazing approach to physical healing. I would describe it as more reflexoligy, but honestly she has a bunch of tricks up her sleaves. Herre is a link to her information.

The best massotherapist I ever went to was my friend Mike up in Sandusky. He was a short, older guy who looked like Picasso and used to be a boxer. He was an osteopath and always had his dog laying under the table during treatment, and a wood-burning stove cranked up.
The anesthesia interns at OSU hospital f-ed up my back when Grens was born, and he fixed it.
He traded me 10 (!) massages for a painting of his dog! :D

Thanks everyone, I'm definitely gonna check out someone soon. I'll make a post about my experience somewhere, too! Thanks!

Here is my endorsement for Mukha massage therapist Anthony Dicello the best ever in Columbus and I have gone to 23 different therapists.

I'd love to get the phone number or website for some of the massage therapists recommended in this thread, or others you'd recommend!
I want someone who is body-focused rather than cosmetics-focused (Mukha looks great, but a little too glam/salon for me). The guy specializing in osteopathy up in Sandusky sounds good, or anyone who incorporates Reiki healing. Proximity to Clintonville = a huge plus :)
THANKS...

I've heard good things about the Massage Group (on Pacemont) and the Center on High, which I am certain does Reiki. Both are in Clintonville. I was going to treat my boyfriend to a massage at The Center soon, so I will let you know how that goes!

Scott is AMAZING! I hurt my neck at work a few years ago, couldn't turn it at all to the right. Scott fixed me in one session. It was remarkable. They're very body focused and very professional.
