I always enjoyed Dirty Dungarees…although you end up spending a ton of money to do your laundry because you're drinking and shooting pool the whole time. But at least with the smoking ban, your freshly cleaned clothes no longer come out smelling like cigarette smoke!
But yeah, the struggle for me was always just to find a non-creepy place to pass the time.

I use the Bronze Bubble on W. 1st Ave. It's next door to the Old Bag of Nails, along with Luck Bros. Coffee and Marshalls in the same strip. There's also a park and the Grandview elementary school across the street, so the creepiness factor is very low. And you can tan there, if that's your thing.
I tried the 24 hour place on W. 5th once; that place is pretty creepy (and the rolling baskets are rusted. ew.)

…oh yeah, I forgot about that place! I used to go there all the time. Way nicer drinking/entertainment options than Dirty Dungarees.

Yes, I didn't even realize that place was there! Probably too drunk from Marshalls. This is perfect, thanks!

The place next to Marshall's looks really nice and you can go eat at Bag of Nails or Marshall's while you launder---one of my friends uses that one and the one on 5th Ave. in Grandview next to the wine store.

I've had no problems with laundry at SC Wash & Tan there at High/King.
In fact I almost like going there.

Weird, I was just asking people about this yesterday. We're going to check out the Wash/Tan place Ndcent is talking about this weekend. Small stackable is not cutting it for bedding. Bummer :(
What about Suds and Java? Anyone go there?

It's been a few years since I was sans washer/dryer, but back then I would head all the way up to the Clintonville Laundromat on High Street in front of the Olentangy Village apartments. It was worth it to have a place that actually looked clean and you didn't feel bad when a sock hit the floor. Too many other places were just plain dirty. Not too bad a location to while away a couple of hours - Denise's, Cup O Joe, Mozarts, O'Reilly's, etc... all nearby to feed various vices.

I patronize Bronze Bubble and occasionally wander over to Luck Brothers for awesome food and drink. Please say hi if you see me there (the bright red hair is hard to miss). If I look confused, you know the password to tip me off!
I agree about the laundromat on 5th. It's within walking distance and I refuse to go there without an armed escort and an inflatable couch.

what place on 5th avenue are you guys talking about?

It's a little place near Twisted Vine. It's open 24 hours a day, but that's about all that recommends it. There tend to be people sleeping there during the winter.

We used the one on W. 5th as a last resort when a laundry emergency arose on July 4th. It's nice to know somewhere that is open on holidays, but that's about all I'd use them for.
I think the Clintonville laundromat mentioned above is owned by the same people who used to own the laundromat in front of the Grandview library. I was so mad when that one closed - it was always really clean, they had couches and cable TV, and you could go to the library while you waited. Then again, at the Bronze Bubble you can go to the bar while you wait... library vs. bar... hmm...

Highlife, I must have run into at the laundromat near the library at one time or another and was probably introduced to you by John, the rather large and friendly employee there.

I take back any nice things I said about SC Wash & Tan.
Holy fuck what a disgusting experience last night doing laundry.
Verbally abusive man with woman and her children.
12 of 24 dryers out of order.
Wretched putrid foul heinous body odor like I've never smelled ever and I never want to. We think it was from the laundromat attendants flip flops that she took off while mopping. This was 6-8' away and it was behond disgusting.
I hope to never return. I'm SO glad my new digs have a washer/dryer.

I love the Bronze Bubble, my only beef is that they play really bad top 40 radio, REALLY loud. For the first hour or so, it's fine, but after that I just start yanking my hair out.
Last time I went they were playing something more subdued, it was great. I could read my book in peace.

I can't get my crap together and get laundry done so I'm going to have to resort to that 24 hour place tonight :( Anyone know the name? I don't know where that Twisted Vine place is either so cross street? Are there any other late night options? Won't be back from MRM until 11pm-ish and I have to get it done tonight!! Thanks!

Thanks!Wyandotte is the cross street. There is parking behind the building. It's also near the Red Door Tavern if you need a meal.
