Honestly, I didn't watch a whole lot of movies this year. So I'm looking for a list of recommendations on films I should be watching from 2011 as they make their way to DVD/Netflix/etc.
Any recommendations?

My recommends are Warrior, Snowtown, Moneyball, Drive, and Terri.
Haven't gotten around to seeing a lot of stuff this year, but of what I did, the best (by far) was The Tree of Life.
Drive, Thor, and Super 8 were my favs of the year.
I really liked Midnight in Paris
not to be confused with
one night in paris
So far, "Young Adult". Not bad, but I hope it was not the best of 2011.
The rest of what I saw is not worth mentioning.
I hear good things about "A Dangerous Method"
Off the top of my head, and I'm still catching up with some movies -
Mainstream: Drive, Hanna, Super 8, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Bridesmaids, The Muppets, Hugo, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Indie: Beginners (my favorite), Take Shelter, Melancholia, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Troll Hunter, The Artist, The Future, Attack the Block
Documentaries: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, Bill Cunningham New York, We Were Here, Beats Rhymes & Life: Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, Into the Abyss, Marwencol, Waste Land, Page One: Inside the New York Times (just for David Carr)
Life in a Day is a delightful compilation of clips from around the World, all shot on one day last year. The video version of A Day in the Life.
You can watch it here:
Thanks everyone! This large list is going to give me enough 2011 films to watch throughout all of 2012. ;)
maybe not the best film I've seen, but this is the best scene I've seen in a long time

Not too many movies I liked in 2011. No good Irish flicks, and no good English flicks. I finally did watch human centipede 1 and 2 this weekend, pretty boring and not as disgusting as I thought.
My 2012 resolution is if the movie is not set in Boston, Belfast, or London, I am not watching it.

The Guard was pretty good.

My must see film of 2011 premieres Christmas day - War Horse. The cinematography looks breathtaking. I don't anticipate going to a movie theater on Sunday, but with two equestrians in the family, just maybe.
I wanted to see Dolphin Tale, but didn't make it to the theater. Water For Elephants looked promising, but has too much of a love story intertwined to make it interesting.

Drive - It's like pulling a 90-mph, 270-degree spinout in a black Ford Mustang with a nameless stranger at the wheel - but this nameless guy isn't nameless, he's Ryan Gosling and he's the Driver, and it's a loud, violent, completely awesome action film about a movie stunt driver by day and getaway wheelman by night. And, it is the best film of the year!

it's similar to "The Driver" with Ryan O'neal, the characters are almost identical
Martha Macy May Marlene was one of the best I saw this past year. It is one of those movies that my wife utterly detested and I loved. It can be confusing to some (not me) and leaves you thinking in the end.
Comedy- 30 seconds or less is surprisingly hilarious
And I have been catching up on my action hero movies over my Holiday Break as I have watched Green Hornet, Thor, Captain America, & X-Men First Class in the last 3 days. I have a guilty pleasure for Comic Book Heroes.
