I can't believe nobody has said Jolly Pirate yet. The only one I know of is in Grove City - more worth the drive than any of the above mentioned. IMO. Except for Old World- never heard of it until today.

My question is..where can one find a BAD donut? Krispy Kreme may be one of the only 'bad donuts' I have ever had, mainly because they give me excruciating heartburn after eating one. Being originally from the home of Dunkin Donuts (Boston, MA area), my vote goes to Dunkin. But Buckeye, Jolly Pirate, and Tim Horton's are not bad either. Also, the Giant Eagle bakery has some awesome donuts, as did Big Bear (R.I.P.). Krogers were good until they started using KK.

Jolly Pirate is the BOMB I just did not realize there were any left. They get my vote. And a special trip this weekend lol

There is a JP on E. Broad Street at the corner of Robinwood Avenue, near the Town and Country shopping center which is technically in Whitehall. They were the only donut player in the neighborhood for years (at least since I have lived in Columbus, and the east side) until last year when Tim Horton opened a brand new shop directly across the street. I have always been a fan of Tim's but that was a low blow. Shame, shame, Timmy.

I've never had Jolly Pirate before. I'm so hunting this place down :)

Tim Horton's Double Chocolate donuts is further evidence that God loves us.

Jolly Pirate (Grove City) is complete with the little treasure trunk boxes, and cute little old ladies behind the counter. I love the place, and my waistline shows it.

There is a great article written by G.A. Benton about DK Diner and their delicious house donuts in This Week Community Newspaper:

I was shocked that Resch's Bakery wasn't more prominently mentioned in this thread... Thankthebabyjebus it was mentioned!
Krispy Kreme has always been my go-to donut - the glazed-chocolate-glazed can be consumed by me to an embarrassing level. However, since discovering Resch's Bakery, their donuts are what I think about when someone says "donut?".
In fact, nothing that has come out of the Resch's white bakery box has been bad - including their miraculous cakes. I got a 1/4 sheet cake that they actually sliced and added a layer of lemon curd to... white cake, white frosting, lemon curd filling. Heaven.

I hit up DK Diner a couple weekends ago - the creme filled long john with homeade chocolate frosting and the GIANT apple fritter sort of blew my socks off.

The pumpkin donuts at Circle S Farms in Darbydale are very good, especially with some of their homemade cider in the fall.

There used to be excellent apple fritters at Tuller's on Sawmill. There's a tire store there now.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Auddino's yet. Amazing donuts and pastries. Especially the glazed croissants and eclairs. Yum.
