I am continuing to look for the best donuts in town - right now it is a dead heat between DK Diner and Auddino's - http://cmhgourmand.com/2011/01/02/auddinos-italian-bakery-audaciously-awesome-donuts/
In Columbus - worthy of mention: Resch's, Buckeye Donuts and Honeydip donuts.
In Ohio - Donald's (Zanesville), Donut World (Lancaster).
What places are missing and what are your thoughts?

I haven't been yet, but I've heard Schneider's in Westerville is good.
And I have to agree that DK Diner is tops. I still need to visit Auddino's, too.
Sub-question: do any of the Italian bakeries around town make a good lobster tail pastry?

Auddino's has lobster tails.
Schneider's Bakery - good but not DK Diner or Auddino's good.
Der Dutchman - true - good stuff.
Pardon the double donut post.....but this covers Ohio as well - so only a partial social media foul - I'll skip a bowl game.

I was somewhat amazed by Auddino's hybrid donut-croissant that I tried at Taste the Future. I think they called it a dough-ssaint, but I would have preferred the term cronut. Whatever it was called, it was a tasty combination of butter, sugar and flaky pastry that is probably not recommended by the American Diabetes Association.
And on a different topic...I almost never eat sweets so I have nothing to add to this discussion.

Donald's and Darrel's Donuts. They are brothers, two store, 1 on Maple Ave, the other on St. Rt. 22 in South Zanesville.

Auddiono's "Cronut" is amazing. I have a hard time passing 11th on 71 and not stopping in there for one, or three.

I have to second Donut World in Lancaster - and their 24 hour drive thru is both a blessing and a curse...No matter what time I get in town to visit, I can grab tasty donuts.
In the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati, there is a place that makes great donuts called Bonomini's Bakery. If you are ever in town and get a chance to try one - I highly recommend it.

The best donuts in Ohio are located in Springfield, Ohio. Schuler's Bakery is located 45 miles west of Columbus. The family owned business is slowly expanding and making it's way around Ohio. Back home (Findlay) there's a place called Bakers Delight, and boy are their donuts delightful. Anyone heading to Revolver for dinner should definitely check these out. They're only a few blocks away.
I'm a fan of long johns and theirs melt in your mouth. Very sugary, I have a tough time eating more than one, but that doesn't stop me from trying!
Oh, and I just wanted to give another shout-out to Auddino's. Not only do they make some delicious goodies, but they're the nicest family. The last time I went there, I locked my keys in my car. They stayed open an extra half hour while I waited for a locksmith and even gave the baby a roll to snack on. For that alone, they'll be my go-to for all my bakery goods.

Bill's Donuts in Centerville (south suburb of Dayton) is the best Ive found. they must use the highest quality lard or something cuz theyre very smooth.
also open 24hrs!!

Since we are taking this out of Columbus City limits, then I would nominate Der Dutchman in Plain City.
I took a detour there on the way downtown last week and everyone at work was overjoyed when I brought in a box of those huge baked goods.

New System bakery in Chillicothe. Hands down, the best. The bismark is just awesome.
And I don't really care for donuts, so you know it has to be good.
ETA: be advised, I believe they are only open M-F, and for best selection, arrive before 10.
