Diversity a hurdle to improving Beaumont neighborhood

Community leaders hope to reverse the decay and end the violence in a Morse Road neighborhood southeast of the former Northland Mall site. The Northland Alliance has applied for a United Way neighborhood-partnership grant of $10,000 to pay for a survey of 200 residents to help determine the community’s needs, rather than take a top-down approach, said Joyce Bourgault, who heads the alliance, a nonprofit group.
