I'd eat at Brioso for lunch frequently if it fit into my workday. Sadly, I only have time to walk to the North Market (can I start posting "IWO" instead of insert winking emoticon?). Oh, and lunch isn't bad at my place of employment. +1 to a second Dirty Franks in the Barrio location, but CFL probably has a dozen or so new concepts poised to launch.

There's no conspiracy why those Wendy's and Arby's locations closed.
You ask many QSR franchise operators and they will tell you that without a drivethru that business model doesn't really work. I've heard estimates from operators I know that 40-60% of their sales come there.
Even McDonald's at Easton closed (it also lacked a drive thru) around that time period, and you don't get much better much pedestrian foottraffic-wise locations than that.
So it should be no surprise they went out when the economy went south and every company was looking to trim costs, that the least profitable format locations were first on the chopping block.
The reason that McDonald's is still in the Market Exchange and every other national fast food chain else is gone in downtown is as simple as that difference of having a drivethru and not.

The drive-through business model doesn't seem the same downtown as it does in the burbs. What downtown worker drives to lunch? IMO, it's the lack of evening business that really kills fast food restaurants downtown. I'd get Potbelly in a pinch, though.

Dae Oh restaurant group bought it. According to a friend of mine who works at one of their other restaurants, they're going to be doing some pretty significant changes. The restaurant will operate under a new name and the layout will be going under some modifications, but they're keeping it a small plates/tapas type place. I don't know much more than that.

Barrio is set to reopen, possibly tonight if they get a few last minute kinks worked out. The new signs are up and they'll reopen as "Madrid," while another sign indicates the bar area as "White Room Bar." Seems like they are keeping things low key for the opening.
