Thought I would let the dog-owning Columbus Undergrounders know that BarkPark (http://www.barkpark.org) is accepting new members.
BarkPark is a ten acre fenced park operated 100% by some very dedicated volunteers and 100% to raise money to support organizations and programs that care for abandoned and abused animals. It is open most Saturdays from late May to October, with plenty of space for the mutts to romp and swim, agility equipment, etc. BarkPark also has its own concessions stand (for the people!) and a dog bath area so everyone goes home clean.
This year, Bark Park will go over the One Million Dollar mark in terms of money it has raised for animal rescues and other organizations, like the Franklin County Dog Shelter, which I think is an amazing achievement in itself.
I have been taking my two dogs there for years and it is a great time for everyone. What makes it different from the dog parks around town (aside from its Concession Stand :!: ) is that it is always staffed with about 20 volunteers that are there to help ensure everyone gets along well. The membership cost is $150 for a family membership (they are 501c3, so tax deductable), and a $5 entry fee each time you visit. It is located north of Columbus near to the Columbus Zoo. Check out their website to get information on joining.
