there are only 4-5 theaters that can show 3-D films in town and the arena grand is not one of them. I'm looking forward to Avatar, have seen all the 3-D releases since Bolt, yes even the Jonas Brothers. I think the extra cash for the 3-D and Imax releases is worth the cost, since the average 3-d projectors cost about 100 grand.

Early screening buzz seems to be overwhelmingly positive so far.

and not fight my way through with a cattle prod at Lennox.I hate Lennox AMC ... Volume is always so high that it hurts my ears. I bet that it is actually loud enough to damage hearing. There can be 2 people in the theatre and it is just blaring! In fact, not hard to hear other theatres from within the one you're in.
I bet that Studio 35 will play it. :) Anyone checked?Maybe I'm just getting old and my hearing is getting bad, but I can never hear shit when I'm at Studio 35. I love the venue, for multiple reasons, but always have to strain to hear the quieter dialogue.

i'm more excited for Avatar: The Last Airbender. BEST. CARTOON. EVAR! although all roads point to m. night shymalan (sp) ruining it.Swan. I'm with you. Every time I hear someone mention Avatar, I get annoyed that they stole the name from The Last Airbender. I have hope that it will be awesome, as the cartoon is just THE BEST.

Saw it today in 3-D. Wow. I'm going back and popping for the IMAX. It was the best blend of CGI, 3D and live action I've ever seen. The story is a little hokey, but the acting was very good. Has the whole noble savage trope, and of course the outsider is the hero. Incredibly imaginative, and one of the better sci-fi films I've seen. Maybe not Blade Runner, but way up there.
The effects were just outstanding. Total suspension of disbelief. I really got into it, and even at 2 ours and 40 minutes, it didn't feel like it really dragged.Highly recommend this one.

I think my daughter will have a meltdown if they ruin the movie. She is obsessed with the cartoon and it fills most of the space on our DVR :)

I saw this last night at the AG. It was awesome! I think it's right up there with HP and LOTR movies. I'm going to find some time to see it again in 3D.

I saw this movie last night in 3D. Most 3D movies I have seen were not very impressive. I actually felt like I WAS in the movie (due to the effects...NOT alcohol :) ). Great effects. I will see it again. If any guy has a girlfriend that does not think she will like it.... I can say that she probably will love it.
