I'm guessing since they seem to be the only one not selling advance tickets, that AG isn't going to carry Avatar? Judging by the rediculous ticket costs elsewhere I am guessing the studio wants too much to show the film. shame though, I wanted to get balcony seats and not fight my way through with a cattle prod at Lennox.

On another board someone was asking what 'Avatar' is about.
Answer was "FernGully meets Starship Troopers".
Still laughing.

The whole campaign of describing this as "changing motion pictures forever" or whatever is really off putting to me.
I keep remembering a certain inventor making promises like that and then ending up with the segway.

I got offended that Facebook served me an ad for this movie.

if it's going to change motion pictures forever, they really need a better trailer. because i have zero interest in seeing this.

I enjoyed see the trailer when I was watching "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs'. The trailer was in 3-D

The more I see a film advertised, and ads for this have been all over the freaking place, it usually means the movie sucks.

Well the references to changing movies forever I know is more about the technology and veiwing experience than the script.. still $13 for non Imax? nuts..

Then it was a Segway.
(yeah, I may still sound bitter, as I was sure it was Jetson Cars)

and not fight my way through with a cattle prod at Lennox.I hate Lennox AMC ... Volume is always so high that it hurts my ears. I bet that it is actually loud enough to damage hearing. There can be 2 people in the theatre and it is just blaring! In fact, not hard to hear other theatres from within the one you're in.
I bet that Studio 35 will play it. :) Anyone checked?

http://www.arenagrand.com/box-office/coming-soon.phpBut apparently not selling advance tickets yet..
Tenzo, I dont think its showing in 2D.. I think it may only be in 3D or IMAX 3D
Posted 2 years ago # -
from what i thought, it was only 3d
i'll agree, the trailers aren't very good
bit dissapointed it's taken so long and it looks so animatedPosted 2 years ago # -
I have tickets to the opening Saturday at Easton, IMAX 3D.
I admit, the trailers have been...underwhelming. But it's Cameron doing sci-fi, so I pretty much have to see it. They've released so much stuff now I've stopped watching it.

i'm more excited for Avatar: The Last Airbender. BEST. CARTOON. EVAR! although all roads point to m. night shymalan (sp) ruining it.

Tenzo, I dont think its showing in 2D.. I think it may only be in 3D or IMAX 3DEverytime I've gone to Arena for a 3-D there has been a sign on the door saying that they are showing in 2-D.
That is the only thing that sucks about Arena.
I go to Marquis for 3-D.My building pass gets me into the Arena offices and therefore access to the side doors of the Arena Grand theater. On a slow day I'll grab my lunch and go see 1 hour of a movie. I've seen most my movies in 1 hour blocks.

The whole "changing movies forever" thing was the goal, not necessarily the result. Check out the recent Wired article: http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/11/ff_avatar_cameron/all/1
If nothing else, you have to respect Cameron's dedication to his vision.
