I can't wait for Persona 4 to come out!

I meant to pick up Trauma Center for the DS, but haven't gotten around to it yet. And Touch Detective sort of looks fun.
Otherwise, I don't think I've played an awful lot of Atlus games. I never heard of anyone being one of their diehard fans, but that's good to hear they have some. Judging from your avatar I would have taken you for a Capcom fan. ;)
They actually have a lot of Fans, I'd just like to meet some Columbus ones.
Their website has a forum attached and they have extremely witty e.mail updates on what they are doing that keep you on your toes!
They do a lot of RPG's, they are my second favorite RPG game designers first being Square Soft/Enix of course for Final Fantasy games.
And I am a big Capcom fan as well!
Trauma center is great but it gets very difficult quickly so that can be frustrating.
I'm tempted to pick up Baroque for the Wii. Mary and I really like playing RPG's/ Adventure games together. I'll play and she'll knit, or she'll play and I'll read. Baroque seems like it would lend itself to that type of play pretty well, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. Any thoughts? (Although I don't know if this counts as it was developed by another company and published by Atlus, but I couldn't think of anything else to add.)
I haven't tried Baroque yet myself.
It is a Dungeon crawler so it's the same dungeon with different levels and you are supposed to die in it several times because that unlocks the story line further. It's a very different style then the classic RPG types like Final Fantasy.
You can always try out the game at this one store on High Street called "play it trade it" close the intersection of Henderson and High. There is one guy there with red hair and a huge beard that is also a big Atlus Fan who I discuss with a lot. I'll actually be going tomorrow to trade in my old PS2 guitars and Guitar hero games as I never play them since I got Rockband.
I think the next Atlus games I'll get are "Izuna the unemployed Ninja", Dokopan Kingdom (it's like Animal crossing but evil because you're supposed to be mean to the other villagers), or find Odin Sphere.
I love the RPGs they put out and they maybe the last stand for RPG on PS2 with Persona 4 being made for it. Loved Persona 3 and the Shin Megami Tensai series, but the thing I have never liked about them is their small release of copies in the US and then they are gone. The only one they changed that one on was Persona 3, but only in the sense that they finally released the FES version in the States. Disgaea doesn't count because it's not an Atlus game, only released in the States by them.
Also, at least on the Japanese site: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-43-49-en-70-2ts5.html
Re release of the Shin Megami Tensai 1 US Version.
I heard they did a re-release of digital devil sagas 1&2.
It is difficult to find the games since they do small releases but I also enjoy that about them because you really have to want it to get it. They have a very different line up in the types of games they have also.
I'm looking into getting Etrian Odyssey, the guy at Play it trade it showed it to me today and it reminds me a lot of Wizardry from the Ancient NES. It's very old school type of dungeon crawler with random encounters where you have to draw out the dungeon map as you go along on the DS touch screen.

I have been thinking of getting that one too. Just so much comes out on DS, unlike the PSP-and mostly remakes.
Picked up Persona 4 today, which maybe the last great gasp of the PS2.
hee hee I just picked up mine too!!! But I am going to wait till after christmas to open it in case someone else got it for but I just could not wait!!
Now of course, even Atlus had to join the MMO world. The closed beta is now done and and they opened a beta game based on of course their Shin Megami Tensei series to the public. I downloaded it and created a character, but my dislike of MMOs in general means I doubt I will play it.
i saw that! but I haven't tried it out yet. I ended up picking up Disgaea DS and amm LOVING it right now.
Well if you try it, my character will be Wildman, but only trying it out since not really into MMOs. I have Disgaea DS, but may wait to play after Luminous Arc 2.
I used to play a fair amount of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen back in the day (which I guess is really a Quest game that was published by Atlus).
Atlus games usually require too much grinding for my tastes to really maxx out. Just causes OCD burnout for me, I can't drop 100+ hours on title anymore like you would need to do to master a good SRPG like Disgaea
It's definitely nice stuff, they really are good at getting small developers published. Great games if you are hard core but I'm too old now to really find that fun anymore. I'm glad to see there are some local fans still around. :)
bah old smold. I have 5 RPGS lined up waiting to be played and some NIS america also.
disgaea 2, grim grimoire, odin sphere, persona 4 and Ar tonelico. and I work 3 jobs!
Well then I guess you manage your time much much better than I do (3 jobs wow!)
Mainly I think my desire to master these games ends up making them unfun for me sometimes. Lot of extra grinding required to do that.
I don't have it in me to do 4-5 hour sessions anymore. Bout 1-2 hours tops before I burn out now :(
1: i am new to this whole Columbus Underground dealie and am pretty amused seeing Atlus discussions as fresh message board discussions. thats awesome.
2: i played all but the latest Shin Megami games on PS2 and loved them. the pure imagination and creative designs in both fiction and programming are top rate. up there with Hayao Miyazaki, Katamari and Boris among my favorite Japanese imports. their beer sucks for real though, flame on. and WTF are they doing with all that timber suken off their coast?
3: Wiki shows Atlus made coin-ops... anyone seen/played?
thankyou and goodnight, subject
I don't know Anything about Coin-ops But I"ll have to look into that
Well, Atlus (created by From Software) rather than Square brings one of the newest Action RPGs to the PS3. I picked up the limited edition today and gamespot.com actually already put up it's review. They, like, most other reviews thought it very hard, but still a very good game. Second link is to a cartoon dig at current games/gamers.
