I think Saturday typically has been better. If you can stay Thursday - Sunday, that is the most fun. I think the last time I went I was 26. 26 was above the average age by a couple years, but I was not the oldest.

Looks like it's October 30th this year. Which is a Saturday.

I last attended in the mid eighties when I was 21 and had a great time. Towards the end of the evening I was asked by the Athens police to leave town and never return. Hope this helps.

I was told by a long time Athens halloween goer that the Highball here in columbus was now a better party.
I've never been to Athens for Halloween so I can't say. But I do look forward to the highball.

i went to OU ... stay away, its not fun at all. Not once did the night go smoothly.

in my 5 or so years attending OU i attended the halloween fiasco once. all other times i was working in a bar and unfortunately had to deal with the same idiots.
the majority of the arrests during halloween come from "out of towners".

I'm gonna have to get on the Athens Halloween bashing too. I went to OU and went to Halloween ONCE my first year. Every year after I left town. If you live there it is a MAJOR pain in the ass; No parking, bars charge covers for that day only, people come in town, F-up your stuff and leave the mess behind. It was not a big draw for me, and the cops DO NOT play around. If you're from out of town and get messed up, they will send you to jail.

Blah blah I went five years in a row, it was always a problem-free blast, nothing quite like it.

Only went once, but other than feeling a little too old to be there didn't have any problems.

Aren't students themselves technically "out of towners"?

while i went there, i had an absolute blast
after graduation and without a "safe place" to lay my head it was chaotic and nerve racking
even if you want to leave, it can be very hard to dothis year in columbus we'll have sleigh bells @ boma along with a nice lineup of local djs on friday night, then highball on saturday... no reason to leave town if you are looking for a wild party on either night

What is Highball? I'm too new to Columbus.
[EDIT] and FWIW I have been to Athens twice for the Halloween parties. I always had a good time as well. I know there seems to be a lot of arrests, but I was never privy to those.
