A neighborhood is born in Cincinnati. After a decade of debate, financing, design, and construction, phase one of The Banks—arguably one of the country’s most ambitious urban design projects—is nearly complete. When finished, the 18-acre mixed-use development will add nearly three million square feet of building to long vacant land between Cincinnati’s Central Business District and the Ohio River.

That's probably a long way off. ODOT fought Columbus tooth and nail to not have to include any highway caps to connect neighborhoods with Downtown, and ended up having to compromise to a reduced number. Considering Cincy had it's highway rebuilt not that long ago, I wouldn't expect them to happen anytime in the forseeable future.

Those stadiums desparately needed those restaurants and bars across the street. Can't wait to visit the Moerlein Lager House. UrbanCincy just put up the fall update video a couple of weeks ago if anyone wants to check it out. They usually do a video about every two months updating each individual project.

I really like their pedestrian bridge. I hope Columbus incorprates a pedestrian bridge and retail along the riverfront.

The Main Street bridge has a great pedestrian component.

What intrigues me is that I have stayed directly across the river on many occasions and there have always been major hobo encampments visible in that area.

Actually, I'd like to see the whole area by COSI developed into a high-rise cultural area with the neighborhood west of the tracks developed into a small alley-oriented development, very industrial/artsy neighborhood where people could go and watch artist making "stuff", display it in the alleys, and purchase it. I'd like to see a developer with some foresight come in and develop it into a mixed-use neigborhood and provide significant free/reduced ground floor rent to aspiring artist in order to boost the neighborhood development prospects. I imagine it like Broadway in Nashville, only it would be artist instead of musicians

yeah i deffinatly would like a high-rise condimuniums come into that area.

While the Scioto Peninsula isn't going to have two major league sports stadiums on it, there is something to be said about having the country's #1 science center as an anchor. A renovated Vet's Memorial (add a hotel!) could be a great anchor as well.
Here's the current proposed plan for redeveloping that area:

It would be interesting to see how an aquarium would do on a referendum if it required more property tax money. I personally don't care too much about aquariums; the zoo has more than enough fish for me, but I'm sure many would disagree. I'm also not sure Columbus is big enough to support another major museum.
