Art for Life 2008 to Raise Awareness, Dollars
Biennial Fundraiser for Columbus AIDS Task Force Expected to Attract Thousands of Supporters, Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars
Columbus City Center will be transformed into a vibrant party space on Saturday, May 10, as Columbus AIDS Task Force presents Art for Life 2008, its biennial gala fundraiser. The live and silent art auctions and party historically attract a crowd approaching 1,500 supporters and art lovers, who will bid on artwork donated by local and national artists.
For the first time, this year Art for Life offers specially priced admission for college students, priced at only $40. The student ticket provides incentive and opportunity for a whole new generation of people to participate. General admission for the silent auction and party is $75 for an individual ticket and $140 for a couple. Tickets to join the live auction are limited, and are priced at $125. Silent auction tickets are available online at http://www.afl2008.org
Honorary co-chairs for the evening are Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman and Nanette Maciejunes, director of the Columbus Museum of Art.
Local art galleries provide significant contributions of artwork by the artists they represent, including Craig Carlisle, Alice Schille, Malcolm Baroway, Dennison Griffith, and many others. Countless other painters, photographers, and sculptors have also stepped forward to donate their work. This years event presents the largest Art for Life collection, featuring 238 local, national and international artists.
“While the generosity of sponsors, patrons, galleries, artists, and art buyers makes this one of the most significant sources of dollars for our operating budget, Art for Life also reminds us all of the continuing demand for the services that Columbus AIDS Task Force provides the Columbus community,†said Chad McCoury, CATF’s President an CEO. “It makes us all grateful, humble, and proud to fulfill our mission.â€Â
