Arnold Schwarzenegger at Columbus Metro Club March 2

The Columbus Metropolitan Club (CMC) is presenting a special breakfast forum on Friday, March 2 featuring former California Governor, actor, and seven-time Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger and Arnold Sports Festival founder and promoter Jim Lorimer.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., at the Athletic Club of Columbus, 136 E. Broad St., with breakfast served at 8:00 a.m. Schwarzenegger and Lorimer will be interviewed by Dispatch journalist Tim Feran. There will be Q & A with the audience and the program will conclude by 10:00 a.m. Later that morning Schwarzenegger will help dedicate a statue of himself at Veterans Memorial.

Schwarzenegger is in Columbus to participate in the 37th Arnold Sports Festival which attracts competitors from around the world, with more than 18,000 athletes in 45 different sports and events. The festival is expected to bring 175,000 visitors to Columbus March 1-4.
Lorimer became close friends with Schwarzenegger in 1970 when he invited the young body builder to Columbus to compete in the first World Weightlifting Championship which he had organized. Their strong bond led to them to create the Arnold Sports Festival, which has become one of the premier body building events in the world, as well as one of Columbus’ largest events.
