So the arnold classic is a little over a month away, and I am highly excited to go. Curious on who else is checking out this fun and interesting event?

I used to attend regularly when I lived in Columbus. It really is a huge deal to have an event of that magnitude in our city. The Arnold Classic is one of the things that keeps Columbus on the map nationally, although most locals just see it as a meat head convention.
For people who have never been and assume it's just a bunch of guys walking around in cut-offs and Tapout shirts (ok, there is a lot of that) I would highly encourage you to check out the listing of events on the website and attend. Although bodybuilding and powerlifting are the primary focus, there is also strongman competitions, martial arts, and tons of fitness-related events and displays. Plus you can easily recoup the cost of admission with the free supplements, energy bars, etc. that they give away (although in recent years a lot of booths have been a bit more stingy).
I'd be interested to hear a field report from anyone who goes this year.

They are incorporating a film festival this year as well, yeah its worth a check for anyone who lives here there's something for everybody.
Personally, I'd love to go see the fencing competition. I keep thinking I'll be able to take it up again one of these days.
I would like to chime in as someone typical of having the meathead idea of the thing. I happened into it one day since I work near there, and was very very impressed, it is like all the great things of gym class, and I really did see all types there, and while I'm generally most excited in life about a proper chair to sit in for many hours, this event made me want to be more active.
one time i was flying into CMH and was on the plane with what I though was a WWE crew- lotsa spray tan, fake fur, tank tops and turquoise tiger striped pants. They were seated all over the plane and spent the entire flight yelling and (no lie) MOOING at each other. Dunno what the mooing was about, but it became clear what their actual travel plans were all about.
I went last year for the first time. It was fun, but I'm not sure I'd go every year. I like boxing so I spent most of my time watching that. I already have my workout plan, and I already know which supplements I like to take. So I didn't spend much time standing in those long lines.

Very relevant post, thank you.
Perhaps we should have set some ground rules for keeping this thread on topic to the Arnold Classic and not some random people someone may have shared a flight with years ago?

Are you trying to undermine the whole fabric of this site?! Relevance, pshaw! ;)

it was the tan-in-the-can comment, wasn't it?
Content: they were ArnieFest attendees
Also anyone that is interested, strikeforce will be doing a televised fight that will be on showtime at nationwide Rafael Cavalcante vs. Dan Henderson title fight. Glad to see there are other people interested in going.
So... anyone stop by yesterday, or plan on going today? Good day to be indoors. ;)
Sup brah, get at me bro
They have the flags of maybe all the nations along High St from Nationwide to Goodale. Looks awesome if you are into flags.
Are there weight restrictions on peddycabs? (muscle weighs more than fat)

I think the use of the flags is a brilliant idea. It brings an international flare to the event and I hope they start doing that every year. Btw, when is the city going to erect an Arnold statue (like Rocky in Phili)
I'm going to check it out early Sunday. It will still be nuts but not as nuts as today.
I was at Madlab downtown an hour ago. Parking is at a premium, with people using private lots and walking to the festival. Folks, remember that if you're going to do so, it's at your car's peril (I know of at least one double-parked car that was about to be towed). Either find public transportation in or use a pay lot. The merchants who are not associated with the weekend's events will thank you for it.
im planing on shaking the shit out of 2 cans of spray tan, holding them upside down and rocketing to the short north later...
