Huh. Just this evening, 3 vehicles looking something like this (but beige) were rolling north through the Short North with men in beige fatigues on top, hanging out of what I guess would be called the turret tower:
I'm guessing they were armored personnel carriers based upon a cursory google image search... it seemed just odd enough that I had to wonder if anyone had any idea what it might be about.

i saw two of these, as described by OP, about a week ago in clintonville at the intersection of north bway, heading south on high street.
beige apc's with at least a dozen visible, i'm assuming soldiers, in desert battle dress hanging out the open ports on the sides and roof.
twas odd. national guard perhaps??

Don't know. I asked because I really don't remember what the Sheriff had. It was back in the 80s and I recall his SWAT team having some special APC or the like. And I think I recall him referring to it as a 'tank' and posing for pics on it.

I know franklin county Sheriff and CPD both have had "Bearcat" APCs for several years now. They're used more often than one might think by the SWAT team for barricade situations and the like.
But I'm not sure what the thing pictured in the original post is. However if it was beige it sounds more like Army or perhaps National Guard.
