I know there is nothing I can do to stop it, but retail stores that leave their doors open and the AC on are getting none of my dollars. I thought this was an Easton thing until Saturday when I noticed a couple of shops in the SN doing it. WTF? Is it too much effort to just set your money on fire? No free time to take a boat to the arctic circle and use a blow dryer on the ice caps?

I've noticed customers in line HOLDING THE DOOR OPEN every single time I go to Jeni's. It's not Jeni's, it's the customers fault in this case, but srsly people. get a clue, it's offensive waste of energy.

Is it also wrong to use my vehicles ac with the windows or sunroof open?

You have to make it as easy as possible for customers to get in your doors. There is a drastic and noticeable difference in traffic when the door is left open and when it is not.

In fact you can cool a neighborhood, with street trees. We're shooting around early plans to try it on 5th Ave around Broadview.

Just being honest and letting you know why it happens.

I like hot arms and cold feet.
Considering who that would piss off, go for it!

ETA: silly me, I'd assumed it was a political statement.

I'm expected to slam the door in someone's face because it might conserve a few BTUs? Find an energy friendly alternative and start a business modifying doorways.

At Easton at least, some places have doors that are set to stay open (they catch at the open position) to help people with strollers, in wheelchairs, etc. so they stay open until someone working in the store or otherwise notices and closes them though there are stores that keep them open to invite more traffic.
