Do you arrive early, late, right on time? How late is too late? Do you take the position nothing can begin until everyone arrives and disregard time altogether.
I get so irritated when people are super late---over 30 minutes and do not call. I call if I am going to be 5 minutes late. I think it is a respect thing.

I'm basically always on time unless I get lost or stopped in traffic. And I appreciate when people do the same for me, too. I think it's just common courtesy.
Parties, happy hours, etc. are different because while they may have announced start and end times, it's not like a theater performance or a doctor's appointment where you really do need to be there for the beginning. Those are just come-and-go as you please events.

Punctuality is the only modern virtue it seems. I have no cell phone so I don't call. But I'm usually early for things, and never more than 5 minutes late. Since I don't have a cell phone, I like to tell people when I'm going to be someplace....and then show up!
I think it's because I grew up in a smalltown. In college, my roommates said they didn't know how things would get done when they were in high school without cell phones to tell people where the party was.

I'm usually right on time toward the late-ish side of the 3-5 minute rule if I'm meeting friends or arriving to work. I call if I am going to be late. If I'm meeting someone for the first time or going to something really important, I am early.
I think being on time is important because it shows the people you are meeting that they are important to you. Because I occasionally have issues getting out of the house on time, I try to make my meetings "ish." I'll see you at 12:15ish.

I'm usually on time. I hate being too early. Someone at work has this compulsion to arrive 30 minutes early for EVERYTHING, which I HATE. I think some people are just habitually early and others are habitually late. If you're one way and are friends with a person who is the other way, it's easy to make things work. Like I know my one friend is always going to be 30-45 minutes late. So when we agree on meeting at 7:30, I show up at 8 and am fine.

What would you do if you were supposed to meet someone at 9:30pm and they did not call until 11:20pm to tell you they could meet you at 12:30am :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: would you feel like a desparate loser if you waited or they are so worth it you wait? I suppose if they were an ER Dr. or something it would be cool, but there is no reason to wait that long is there?

There is no reason to wait around for someone like that. Have some dignity. And yeah, you would be a desperate loser if you accepted being treated that way.
There should never be a second time.

Yeah, I run a little late from time to time but that's a whole other ballgame. Either that person is on a power trip or is a total mess, and I wouldn't get excited about accommodating either one.
