That building needs A LOT of work. I don't think it'll get done by the end of summer. Maybe end of Fall..

Good news about this moving forward!
So when's Casto going to revive their stalled-out plans for a new build on that parking lot next to City Center's garage?

The redevelopment of the former Secur-It Personal Storage building downtown appears a bit closer after more than a decade of speculation.
Workers for building owner Casto began pulling out blocked-in sections of what at one time was known as the Adler Building at 272 S. Front St. this week, prompting a few alert passersby to call up Columbus Business First to ask what’s up. The west side of the building had all of the painted cinder blocks between the steel beams removed by mid-day Thursday with a few sections of the north facade also removed.

I just found the image online. Hard to believe someone paid that kind of money to do a pretty rendering like that if they weren't going to go thru with it.
I'm not sure I really care for the townhouses all that much. Seems like a perfect opportunity to do something much more boxy/modern to fit in with the storage building and the Lazarus garage.

One more:
At 4th and Main St and would be replacing two surface lots

Top rendering is along Main St, bottom along 4th St.

Looks great, hopefully everything gets built....

So are these real renderings for proposed development or more just promotional material for the architect?

There are a lot of speculative projects that never got beyond the pretty picture stage and most were more busy or fantasy work used to try and lure other potential investors or as promotional material by architects. A lot of this occurred during the condo craze of the mid 2000's. I once saw plans of 33 North High St (now COTA Building) turned into condo's with a parking garage in the empty lot next door. I would imagine many developers downtown had/have similar hopes for their properties.

I know Casto owns the first property. Who owns the others? Might shed some light if any could become reality. I do believe Casto's property is highly likely at this point.
