I agree it does have a certain wow factor based on what you said. The realtor took good pics to emphasize it’s position, stately nature, etc.
Of course, I also suspect they didn’t take pictures of how much work it might need (not that I expect realtors to do so).

Yeah. The basement. There is no telling what horror lurks down there.

But, it’s one of the things that makes going thru all of the houses so interesting. One open house I went to, there was a coffin (red velvet lining) in the basement – just on a table, sitting against a wall, top half open.

    You have to wonder.

I am parting with a gorgeous linear rectangle golden oak topped Charles Eames for Herman Miller Aluminum Group table .
    Measures approximately 6′ x 3′.
The table is similar to that which is pictured with the exception of no black rubber edge.
This is the first oak rectangle top version I have come across.
    Original label still intact.
A substantial piece with nice patina – yet in wonderful vintage condition.

Alrighty – another great, retro house… Westside, of course…

Check that sucker out – something about it even has a little Cali-modern going on.

Man, that house is just terrific. Had I not just purchased my home at the end of last year, it would be a serious contender …

Off-topic-ish: I was named an Apartment Therapy House Tour blogger, and I’m looking for good candidates! If you know of anyone be a good fit, please send ‘em my way!

(My audition was posted upthread, but here’s another peek: http://is.gd/8WRgy )

To both of the above posters- Really awesome house Twixlen. Have you been up to Rush Creek Village yet. Oh how I covet thee.

On that note, Jennyw, awesome on the side job! I’d recommend the above. I’d love to see the inside of those places!

I’d heard of Rush Creek, but never seen those pics! Those do look like some amazing homes; I’ll see what I can do to get in ‘em! (Uh, legally, of course.)

What do people think of vinyl upholstery? Thinking of buying this:

this thread coming back up reminds me that Grandview Mercantile has a number of Herman Miller tables in their back room (Review consignment). They are round with laminate tops (white & faux wood) and appear to have been used for office versus home use. But any of them could make a nicely repurposed dining table.

I think that has a beautiful shape, but I think it would be kinda icky sticky to sit on.
But it’s easy to wipe up spilled drinks for sure. :)

Depends quite a bit on the quality and kind of vinyl. Some is just as soft and non-sticky as leather. I know everyone envisions that thighs-stuck-to-chair feeling, but good vinyl is different. That said, not sure how you’d assess it via internet.

Here’s a couple of cool vinyl couches for you.

Also, this car is badass. I’m sure Betty Draper will be driving one in Season 5 of Mad Men.
