Always a good spot to check:

What is your criteria and price range?

We are trying to stay under $900 a month. We'd like a two bedroom, or a spacious one bedroom. We need an off street parking spot, since Matt needs a place to park the Time Warner truck. And we have a friendly, well behaved 7 year old golden retriever.

metro rentals is horrible. seriously.
any time i've tried to use them in the past i have found that they leave places up that have already rented... and the site is just bad.
i've had much better success on craig's list.

We're moving out of our Grandview apartment at the end of the month and I know our landlord is looking to fill the space. We live in the bottom half of a duplex. It's 2 bedrooms, 1000 sq. ft., and two streets down from Grandview Ave. for $750/month. PM me if you're interested.

I'm currently looking for a 1 bedroom apt. between $400-$600 a month. After an extended period of unemployment, I'm looking to get back out on my own, but want to keep enough of my income to start rebuilding my nest egg.
I'd like to be somewhere in proximity of high street, and I don't need much in the way of amenities. I just don't want someplace that's in horrible shape in a blatantly unsafe neighborhood. I've spent a lot of time living in the southwest campus area, German Village, and Schumacher place, so I'm not a novice at city living.
Any thoughts, tips, or advice would be appreciated.
Oh, and I'm open to a roommate too.

Heck, if we're posting our wish lists, I need an apartment that is:
* Between $600-$800/month
* Will accept a cat & elderly, small, quiet dog
* Is in the Short North, Victorian Village, Harrison West or German Village area
* Preferably has off-street parking
* Preferably has a washer/dryer
* Preferably has a fenced yardMy biggest problem has been finding a decent place that will take the cat & dog.

MikeReed:I'm sorry that you had an unfavorable experience with our website. We actually update the website daily at the direction of our clients. Its a common misconception that we own/manage the propeties on the website. When a client needs a unit advertised we put it up and then don't remove it from the website until they direct.
If you have called a couple of places you found on the website and found that they were rented or had any other poor experience, we take that very seriously. Please give our Director of Sales & Client Care a call at (614) 464-4000 x5051 and talk to him. He'll be sure to follow up with the client to ensure that the website is accurate and that our site users have a good experience.Posted 1 year ago # -
Metro Rentals is a great website - it is not their fault if landlords don't update adds for places already rented and BTW - good places and good landlords seldom put signs out front - good luck in North campus too (lots of crime, noise and bugs) It you want a quiet place that is energy efficient and good value SKYVIEW is a good deal and value. The area north of Broad to Long in OTE/KLD also some good places 450 to $550 - super clean, newly remodeled 1 bedrooms that are safe, clean and energy efficient + utilities. If utilities are included another tip off that place probably is not to code and substandard i.e North Campus jungle - good luck

I'd rather the North Campus "jungle" any day of the week over gang violence near Skyview. My car may get broken into on North Campus or my bicycle might get stolen, but I'm likely not going to get shot in the neck while driving down the street. If that's your idea of "value" you can sure keep it. I feel bad for the naive student population they're trying to sucker into moving into that place. Other places in OTE/KLD maybe...but not that place...definitely not yet.
ETA...I don't live in North Campus/S. Clintonville, but I have plenty of friends that do and are plenty safe and secure in their homes. I'm over in the Italian Village jungle.

Wow NOBOPatriot - you've turned into pure Spam Sammiches. Would you have your mom or daughter live in Skyview, solo? No? Right.

Wow. So um, thanks for the tips?
BTW: I have been finding metro-rentals more useful than craigslist.

@DavidF - Someone said this in the other thread, but when I was apt. hunting, by far the best locations & values found were by driving/hiking around my target neighborhood. There are still folks out in the world that only put up signs...
Other than that, I've seen some neighborhood association websites will having rental listings. Ya never know.

I'm not sure a SWF is completely safe anywhere - but know North campus is not optimal either. Unfortunately, these are some great apartments, with a good location and views. They also value priced, b/c they know folks are skeptical about the immediate neighborhood. The reality is for a couple of guys or girls or students, who are living together that to bike to school and rely on public transit this might be a pretty good place. Regarding (gang comments) have your heard of the SN Posse and seen all the graffiti - not sure anyplace is safe, but know the gang activity is being driven out and much, much less than 2 years ago - it has moved way out East and out West (TRUE)
