So, has anyone seen Aoi haru? Watched this one over the weekend (I didn't do much but watch tv :lol: ) and enjoyed it. The soundtrack was amazing. The story is pretty bleak, but kept me enthralled throughout. Recommended if you enjoy movies about youth with no real direction or positive outlook on life!
P.S.
I found out about this movie when reading up on Batoru rowaiaru (Battle Royale) which is another recommended movie about youth violence and lack of future prospects. A bit sadistic, but a very interesting movie...

I've watched most of Battle Royal. Anyone ever watched the sequel?
Aoi haru sounds interesting, but at the same time I have to be in a very specific mood for that sort of movie. :lol:

Didn't realize they made a sequel. But it didn't fare too well on IMDB, a 4.7 compared to the 8.0 the original has. I usually try to use the rating as a gage as to whether or not I will be pissed off for wasting my time after watching a terrible movie. I'm not the type to watch a movie half way through and stop, so I try to pick things that at least hover around 5 or so. So there's at least a chance it will be decent. I'll probably add the sequel to my list, but it's a pretty long list with others far in front of it....

Do you have an actual list that you could post here? I'm working on one myself, since it's hard to keep track of movies I want to get around to watching.
Lately though, my time has been eaten up with shows on DVD. We're two seasons into Deadwood, and have gotten through the first 14 episodes of Lost. Both are movie-quality shows. Very good stuff. Just takes so long to watch since an average movie is about 2 hours, and the first season of Lost is over 17 hours, and Deadwood has 12 hour seasons.

I don't have an actual list per se, just use multiple sources to come up with movies to watch. I started with AFI's 100 Years 100 Movies (although honestly, I haven't watched many of the ones in black and white, usually older than 1960, except for Citizen Kane and Psycho). Then IMDB's Top 250 movies as voted by users (which is heavily skewed to modern movies). Then IMDB's top 50 per genre in genre's I enjoy (action, adventure, comedy, sci-fi, etc.). Then top movies per rotten tomatoes (and I usually use rotten tomatoes to gage new releases as well. I'll try to post my list of movies later.....

Yeah, those are all great resources to compile lists. I was just wondering if you had assembled something yourself. That's what I'm working on, but it's so slow going. :lol:
