I've been looking for a place close to the highway and also downtown. These seem to fit that bill because I work in Worthington.
Anyone have thoughts? It seems slightly expensive considering the units are only 550 sqft, but it looked very nice when I toured one. I also am concerned that it will be overrun with students - but it seems pretty expensive for undergrads.
Anyone with inside info or personal experience would be great help.

Their marketing seems to be targeting more the student or just graduated student market. They do seem expensive for what you get and I imagine that trust funds or wealthy relatives are kicking in to pay the bills.
Personally, I would look at the Grandview Yard apartments as an alternative.

Grandview Yard one bedroom is 785sq ft, one bedrooms in Lennox Flat are 450-550 sq ft. The major turn off of the Lennox Flats is how densely packed they are and how likely they will be packed with students.

I agree with you to a degree, but weren't you the person posting about how hard they were to come by? I would say an older, mechanically outdated, two bedroom apartment for $750 is more likely to be found. I would be happy there, but it is not for everyone.
The reason the Yard will rent quickly is that it is all new construction with air condtioning, three prong grounded outlets, windows that don't leak etc. Grandview area is great, but the average apartment building dates to the 1940's.

If I were moving to Grandview I'd look at renting a house rather than being in one of the complexes.

To alot of people its all about whats new..there are so many people out there with the money willing to fork it over for the best new thing Columbus has to offer. I personally take to older buildings with more character.

1) Price / Cost : About $920 for 550 sq ft. Utilities are not included . Initial Application Fee, activity fee, other fees: $500 to get an apartment
2) Some of the wiring has been damaged in the construction process. You will spend the first month fighting to get someone to come fix the wiring so you can have internet. This will mean taking off work (approx 6 hours) so you can wait for someone to come fix it. The apartment management is of no help for this.
3) There are beetle-like ants that invest the grounds. You will find them crawling in the apartments even on the upper floors.
4) No guest parking on weekends and during the day. They tow any and all cars.
5) Trains will come by and drown out any TV or conversation.
6) Minimal sound proofing. You can hear everything. This includes your neighbor's flush and the dog barking (one floor down and two apartments over).
7)They will tell you anything to get you to sign a lease. "Yes, management is very responsive"; "All wiring is hooked up and ready"; "No, no insect problems", and my favorite: "You can park there, they don't tow".

Whoa! I just mentioned them to a friend who will be going to grad school. I am confused is the $500 extra every year or does that include security deposit? The lack of sound proofing would be a deal breaker for her. Is there a time that the trains always go by so she can check that out? I was worried about noise when I read about accepting dogs.

The $500 is the initial cost of application/activity fee (I am not sure the actual breakdown). The yearly activity fee will increase when the pool etc is finished. I can definitely hear the dog all the time and that apartment is not adjacent in any direction. The trains are probably on a schedule but I am not sure how to find that.

So I'm going to be that person that makes a comment related to this thread by six degrees of separation - about the trains. We live on Grant Ave. in one of the new houses. The same trains that run past the Lennox come past here. Grant Ave itself and a big field (yet to be redeveloped) separates our front door from the train tracks, so there's essentially nothing but space between us and the trains, but it's a decent amount of space.
It's terrible. The trains run all through the day and night. The faster the trains, the louder, and the fastest ones come through around 2:30AM - so loud they shake the house.
For anyone looking at apartments close to the trains that run through the Arena District, there's no way I would move in if they don't have some serious soundproofing. Granted, those buildings are made of brick and wood and ours is just wood, they're also much closer to the trains than we are so I imagine they're even louder/harder.
My two cents.

I have a friend who lives near the tracks in the AD and it is pretty annoying. Even worse, for some reason they always blow the train horn going through there. It would drive me nuts.
Would they have to blow the whistle at Lennox because of the street grade crossing?
