The plans look pretty reasonable too (once you get past the $600 phone). They start at $59 for 450 minutes, unlimited data, and 200 test messages. I think the unlimited data plans are usually way more expensive.
is this iPhone tied to a specific carrier? like is it Verizon only :?:
So many companies give decent phones away for free with their plans that I can't justify paying more than double-digits for a phone, no matter how nice it is. :?
While I'm hardly a fanboy (I grew up using PCs) I do like Apple Hardware and think some of it is worth the premium cost of the PC counterparts.

Att/cingular only.
I wanna play with one and see if it really loads web pages that fast, and not "moble web pages" but what they say... "The real internet". That must have a crazy fast network if it loads that fast.

I do not think $59/mo for 450 minutes and 200 texts is reasonable at all.
I hear you Walker...if I were in the market for a new phone and didn't already have an iPod, I'd definitely consider buying one.

Well now that they use intel chips and nvidia graphics cards... what's the real difference in hardware besides the fun round corners :p

Last time I checked, unlimited data plans were pretty expensive...like starting at $40/month on top of your voice plan.
Does that include free night/weekends, or anything like that? If it does, it is a pretty good deal.
I will not be buying one, but I'm interested to see one and play with it. I'm wondering how the touch screen typing works, for text and for phone numbers. Hasn't been pulled off with much success in the past.
how about all the finger prints you'll put on it? :P
oh and here is the plan

The $59.99 monthly plan includes 450 minutes of voice time; a $79.99 plan includes 900 minutes; and a $99.99 plan includes 1,350 minutes. All three offer 200 text messages, unlimited data services, minutes that roll over month-to-month and mobile-to-mobile calls. There also is a $36 activation fee.

My fiancee has the HSDPA/UMTS enabled 8525.
It's pretty damn fast, and can do legit internet (this is the network the iphone will be using). However, my Samsung A-900 (Sprint) is WAY faster. The HSDPA speeds aren't quite up to par yet in the Cbus area... hopefully soon.
Daz wroteMy fiancee has the HSDPA/UMTS enabled 8525.
How much does one of those run compared to the iphone?
Whats up with this 200 text messages crap?
I'll send 200 text messages in an hour! lol.

I think it was 499 when it came out. No idea how much it is now...

Not a ton. Just really tight hardware/software integration. Ultimately you can do the same things with a Mac that you can with a PC, despite what the commercials may lead you to believe () but I think the Mac hardware and software bundled does a lot of really small things really well that add up to make a bigger difference overall.
I was hoping Polarids would make a comeback someday. They just look so cute. :)
$20 a month for unlimited data is pretty much standard. So the plan is fair, but not a great or amazing deal.
My phone has a ton of features on it now I don't use, so I'm not in a rush to go buy a new one.
