I'm being relocated to Columbus soon. Are there any decent texmex places in Columbus (aside from the chains - Chili's, On the Border, Abuelo's)?

Tons of it, starting with the mobile eateries. They are outstanding! http://tacotruckscolumbus.com/

And, to my mind, all the better for it (though I might be biased...).
bigtex - if you're moving from an area with a significant taco truck presence, Columbus may be a pleasant surprise.

Depends on where in Texas you hail from or what your definition of Tex Mex is.
Based on my experience, here are some places that while not TexMex will think fit well into most TexMex flavor profiles
Cuco's
La Casita
Starliner Diner
Chile Verde CafePosted 2 years ago # -
i highly recommend Chile Verde cafe

Talita's in Grove City is also a very good Tex Mex spot, in addition to the others mentioned (And I give a third endorsement of Chile Verde, as well).

+1 for Chile Verde.

I really enjoy La Casita off of Bethel Road as well as Chili Verde Cafe.

What's good at Chile Verde? I'd like to try it soon.

Definitely get something with their shredded beef. Maybe just a taco on the side of whatever else you get. I thought it was delicious.
Personally, I think the place is a little overrated. I guess I prefer traditional Mexican food to their "Southwestern" cuisine.

I think I'm going to have to actually cook a TexMex meal for CU'ers so that everyone gets on the same page, haha.
Or I'm just gonna open a Taco Bueno/Taco Cabana :)
bigtex, there's plenty of great food in Columbus so don't let that discourage you. I just know that I'm only going to get my real TexMex fix when I'm home (Dallas) for the holidays.

If you like your salsa hot, then ask for their hot version. Or ask to have half regular and half hot. Good stuff too.

I would also like to put in my RSVP for this event. ;)Hell yeah! Who am I to tell a Texan what Tex-Mex is all about? Also, be sure to have the Obamarita machine on hand for this event.
