I can't believe I have never tried Alana's........Living here 4 years and a big foodie snob, bitching about Columbus food. We had a wonderful experience...great patio, cheese crusted tomatoes with roasted corn relish etc................................................. Loved it!! Only one thing brought me down...service....Tofu the server was not the best, hopefully you get a better server :)

Overall I've had incredible meals and good service from Alana's the whole time I've been going (longer than I care to say).. Sorry you had a bad server.. I guess anyone can have an off day...
Also sorry it took you so long to get there.. Good, isn't it? :-)

I adore Alana's. There and Dragonfly are my top two restaurants in the city. I just really love chef/owner driven establishments, and how they both make use of local ingredients in very inspired ways. It's more than a meal, it's always an experience.

He acted as though taking our orders was a burden and as though bringing us beverages was an inconvenience. I like to think, as someone who works in public service (and enjoys it), that I have a pretty good radar for when someone is just having a bad day and when they shouldn't be working with the public. Sadly, I think he's just in the wrong line of work.

I think it would be nice to not attack people personally on a public forum. Can't you just say "service was a little..."?
I think I make it a point to treat everyone equally but the truth is that some people don't get my sense of humor, think I am overly "familiar," etc etc.
I just think it's a little mean to call someone out so harshly on a site thousands of ppl read. How would that make you feel? Especially a person where anyone could walk into a restaurant and identify them.

Believe me when I say that I understand where you're coming from, Lisa. I obviously wasn't the person to originally call him out, but I did give good thought to the appropriateness of commenting after seeing his name posted here.
Ultimately for me, choosing to post my true feelings on the matter came down to this - I love Alana's, but I can't recommend it to people because of the likelihood of them having to deal with this guy.
Given how good Alana's is, that's such a shame, no?
