So who puts on Agora now? Couchfire?
You don't really hear much from camp Couchfire anymore. That Bryan guy took over and they just sorta dropped off the face of the planet.
The last entry on their site is July 2011 when Bryan was handed the reigns... and since then Couchfire has kinda fizzled. Turned into a real dud. There's just nothing happening there.
I haven't seen one single piece of news or media in the last 9 months that holds the hallmark of this so-called Bryan Kossman.
So, who is putting on Agora? Because Couchfire is all but dead.

I love how the cred of an organization is now measured by blog posts. Let's get TOOP right on this topix.
I hope this means that all of you have submitted artwork to this year's Agora!
All the artists at Junctionview are involved in making Agora what it is. Couchfire has and is now heading up the operations of putting the show together. It takes a lot of planning and work to get it all together; Bryan and crew are working to make it happen as we speak.
In the end, the best part about Agora is that everyone in the building pitches in to make it a great event. And so do the artists who submit their work, play on the stage or put on a performance.
Five years of work and folks can't take a little break without letting you know?
I guess Couchfire being out supporting various events, other artists and groups around town wasn't enough for some.
Couchfire is just fine. Thanks for your encouragement.
Back to the purpose of the original post: Submission is now open! We'd love to see your work.

Artwork and Open Studios
Agora guests have the opportunity to view and purchase works of art from a unique group of 150 visiting artists and 44 open studios. Visiting artists’ works were selected from online submissions to adorn the halls of the 22,000 sq. ft. warehouse. The resident artists of the space open their workspaces to people wanting to experience their individual unique working environments. In addition to these works, several craft vendors, art cars, live painters, and food trucks such as Rad Dog, Tatoheads, Patty Wagon and Short North Bagel will be on hand to add to the festivities.
Musical Performances:
2pm The Smoking Guns:
The Smoking Guns is a barrel-burning four piece band, whose high-energy performances of good old-fashioned American rock-and-roll get feet moving and hips shaking.

3pm Jackie and the Stabbs
Why try to reinvent the wheel when there’s a perfectly good archetype in place? Jackie & The Stabbs set out to combine and perfect the intricacies of all the music they adore, making it their own. There’s a little something for everybody in their songs, which is how they intend it to be and how they intend to keep it.

4pm Tigers in the Mirror
From the Hot 17: “[Tigers in the Mirror] sound both intriguing and refreshing. It was storytelling without words allowing the listener to create their own vision. At times the music felt like a lead up to a murder scene at others it was giving us the plot line in a momentary freeze frame scene reminiscent of a Wes Anderson movie.”

5pm The Weight of Whales
We tend to stay away from love songs and emotions; we’re more into creating a character and pushing that character toward a limit — . . . from intense revenge on the Seven Seas to simple scenes and dialogues. From the Columbus Dispatch: “...bare melodies and yelping vocals that easily evoke a Jack White side project.”
http://theweightofwhales.tumblr.com/aboutus
6pm Lo-Pan
From Small Stone Records: “...white hot rock and roll fury played like the boys were fighting for their immortal souls. The thunderous low ends and pummeling drums continue to beat your ears into submission. And battling it out front and center is the eternal dual between killer riffs and those soaring vocals...”

7pm Post Coma Network
http://www.facebook.com/PostComaNetwork
8pm Teen Fiction
“pulsating, high-energy show where uninhibited dancing is encouraged “ - The Columbus Dispatch
“Front man, Bob Dawson, is like a magical, electro-rock pastry chef, who delivers awesome little treats concocted from his primary ingredients: drums, guitar, keys, sampled beats, and vocals.” - BusTown Music
http://ReverbNation.com/TeenFiction
Comedy performances:
The Asbestos Crew at 6pm and 8pm
A group of talented individuals who have become increasingly involved in the Columbus comedy scene... The Asbestos Crew can be seen regularly at “Monday Night Live” at the Wild Goose Creative.
http://www.youtube.com/asbestoscrew
Dance Performance:
They Might Be Dancers at 7pm
They Might Be Dancers (TMBD) is a small collective of movement, visual, sound & video artists who live, work and create in Columbus, OH
TMBD is affiliated with FEVERHEAD: a space for dance, art, music, and theatre.
http://theymightbedancers.com/
Fashion Show:
works by Concours(CCAD) at 9pm
A student group that organizes student exhibitions, offers an educational perspective on art related fields that fall under the umbrella of gallery work, and provides students with opportunities outside of CCAD.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Concours/227879800610123
Fire Show:
directly following the Fashion show: Quantum Fire presents The Primal Urge
The Primal Urge is based on the speech that Aristophanes makes in Plato’s Symposium. (Symposium means “drinking together” in Greek.) The concepts expounded by Aristophanes in his speech laid the groundwork for Western culture’s romantic notion of soul mates.
Dance Party:
directly following the Fire Show, by DJ Alberto
http://www.facebook.com/squaredonline?ref=ts
We Are Glitterati will be hosting an interactive Instagram Installation throughout the day. To be a part of the installation, you can submit your instagram photos here: http://agoracolumbus.com/instagram.html
^ and bike valet!
Bike valet in front. Art cars. People's choice voting on best studio and best artwork. Video room showing films all day. Food from Coop, Raddog, Leslie's Crepes, Tatoheads, Pattywagon, and Short North Bagel. Desserts from Pattycake.
There are probably more things. Hopefully everyone rides out to see it all.
Thanks for the reminder lifeontwowheels!

Agora 9 Proves to be an Impressive Event
By: Halie Williams

For the ninth year in a row, Agora is bringing art enthusiasts together to observe and purchase hundreds of art works on Saturday. But Agora isn’t just a small-scale quiet art exhibit. It embodies more of a party atmosphere. For this year’s event, around 200 artists and 450 pieces of artwork will be showcased on the walls and workspaces of Junctionview Studios, as well as appearances by eight different bands, six food vendors, ten craft vendors, art cars, a fashion show, a fire show, live comedy and an Instagram installation.
