The money is not coming.
The FRA has been informed that the Republicans in Ohio will never let the 3C roll an inch. Throwing 25 million for a project that will never happen is stupid.

My east coast family is scratching their head at this mess. It's keeping many of them from visiting more often (or at all) and spending their money here on hotels and restaurants.

Ray Lahood was given letter signed by all the Ohio Republicans testifying to that fact, and also given a copy of the procedure in Ohio to get the 3C going.
He is resigned to the fact that the 3C is dead in Ohio.
The Pittsburgh - Chicago run is up next folks.

How is my family's unwillingness to drive to Columbus more often (especially those in NYC who don't own a car) preposterous? This is my individual experience and may not be indicative of the greater populace. Meanwhile, they aren't visiting.

Is there any wonder why Ohio is so far behind the curve these days? This is indicative of the mentality that keeps us stuck in the 1980s.
Some people just don't like to drive. I certainly don't. But my job requires that I get from Point A to Point B somehow. That, and I do like to see my family and friends elsewhere once in awhile.
If light rail and trains were available, my car would be collecting dust. I might even travel more than I do now. I know I'm not alone.

Ah. I see what you are saying. I am being grumbly because I know they will continue to not visit due to this predicament (especially the NYC bunch). One family member (in Philadelphia) has made some comments about how odd it is that a state capital doesn't even have Amtrak, let alone regional rail.

How is rolling out a train that would average the same amount of time to travel from Cincy to Cleveland in 1920 bringing Ohio into the future ?
Explain that... with out the "We have to walk first crap or we have to start somewhere."

If you really want to troll CU that's fine, but you might want to go back and read the previous pages and pages of discussions, examine the documents available to you on a score of public websites including ODOTs.

Well Chucky you still didnt produce a source or any sort of proof of your story... Why hasnt this come out in the press if this is true? Why haven't these "republicans in Ohio" produced the letter to the public themselves? One would think they would use this "letter" as a testament to their "fiscal discipline" or whatever they are running on this election season. You are clearly trying to erode public support or confuse people.
This is a delay of a few months, big deal. As the article said, there are new regulations that have changed the game a little and they are working with the FRA which is not fast to begin with and are probably overwhelmed with all the new projects going on.

No it never has been explained.
The fact of the matter is straight forward. The 3C is dead.
The higher speed rail service will be introduced between Pittsburgh - Cleveland - Toledo - South Bend - Chicago.
Wisconsin will do their thing shortly and kill their Madison to Milwaukee ghost train and 1.21 billion goes back into the hi speed rail pool of funds.
ODOTS documents are worthless.

Its not dead; you are just making up stories. Unless Ray Lahood comes out and says that Ohio is having its 400 million job producing grant rescinded because of a few stick in the mud republicans, this is moving forward.

Keep telling yourself that, but it will never change the facts.
For something that was labeled as a quick start program, not a thing has happened in Ohio. Other states have received funding already, Ohio has not received one penny.
Why is that ?
