I moved to Columbus from Rochester NY back in September. One of the things I miss most about Rochester (besides Wegmans!) is its cheap and expansive (year round) farmers market. When I moved, I heard great things about the North Market, but was very disappointed when I actually went. There was a lack of variety and the produce was not any cheaper (in fact was more expensive) than the grocery store. I also visited the Clintonville farmers market one weekend. While they had great produce, it was pretty pricey. Is there another farmers market that offers a variety of fresh produce at a discounted price?

I don't know about "farmers market" but I LOVE this place. Great quality, excellent prices, beats the hell out of the grocery store.

Unique hours though...Open Tuesday through Saturday from 8am – 2pm.

You should check out Arena Produce although I'm not sure how much of their offerings are local.

I have also lived in Rochester and there is nothing even close to the Public Market in Rochester here. Sorry. That market was amazing.

They do sell some local products when they're in season (and we love getting Ohio syrup and cornmeal from them as well) but if you're looking for local produce, you mostly have to get it when it's in season.
Here's a list from 2011 of 36 regional farmers markets, their months of operation and their days/hours of operation:

We'll have an updated 2012 list sometime in April, but I imagine this is probably more along the lines of what you're looking for.

Of course, there's always the option of joining a CSA as well:

You will not find that even in season, when the other Farmers Markets open that the prices will be much better. High quality, but not cheaper in most cases. A very good option for you will be Lynd Fruit Farm. They do apples and fruits as well as sell vegetables in season. Google that name and get on Andy's email list, the Cider Press. That lets you know when things arrive. They sell high quality, but less expensive, although you have to drive out there to get it.
