Adopt-An-Area Program...Interested?

I think it would be fun to see ColumbusUndergrounders gather together to Adopt-An-Area of town to Keep Columbus Beautiful
Would anyone be interested?
We would need to do it 3 times per year.
The KCB initiative supplies groups with trash bags, gloves, and tools (on loan) to assist their efforts.
And, After the 3rd cleanup, the city will install a sign acknowledging the group adopting the area. I think that would be pretty neat.
I would probably want to do this when it is nice weather outside.
What area of Columbus should we take on?
Give me some thoughts, then I will create a poll to decide on which part of Columbus the wonderful people of ColumbusUnderground want to adopt and we will go from there!

yes yes lets do it! i worked with KCB and the waste not center people before. the KCB people were great help with urban scrawl. they even came and picked up all the trash for us!

This is a great idea. I would suggest Weinland Park since it borders High Street and some of the restaurants/bars along their could be a destination post cleanup. More importantly the area is always seen as a trouble area by passerbys and those who live there feel overlooked.

Everyone should totally watch Sister Act beforehand, just to see the potential power of a little neighborhood cleanup. I suggest Franklinton. That neighborhood needs it the most.

I'd be willing to join. Would rather see it in KLD, Franklinton or somewhere that doesn't already have the focus of organizations like Campus Partners etc.

franklinton has neighborhood pride week just as many others do in the spring. but the litter and trash problem over here is some of the worst ive seen in the city. people will just throw there trash out of there hands and in the streets. we need some trash cans around here.

Thanks for the responses! I wasn't sure anyone had noticed this thread! :)
I emailed a guy from Keep Columbus Beautiful last week and he said one of the areas in need was the Bike Path that starts at Cleveland Ave running east along Jack Gibbs Blvd and Leonard Ave.
I thought that is a good fit - we could start with that spot and if it goes well and people want to do more then we could look into Franklinton for an area as well. I am also seeing if another group would like to partner with us on the bike path area.
The CleanUp Day is tentatively set for Saturday, March 29.
Hope everyone is still interested!

Sounds awesome. I used to do these a few years ago and it was surprisingly fun - as long as it isn't raining or freezing! Looking forward to hearing more details...

i used to own the soundtrack to sister act 2 on cassette. lauryn hill and whoopie - you cant beat it.

touche. thats how i roll(ed). in fact, i believe if someone were to search the trunk of my car they may or may not find a poorly dubbed copy of the cranberries unplugged on cassette.
