Tom - Rus is referencing something like this. Not a dig at you, but a dig at the people who shop at ABF.
Thx, but didn't assume it was a dig at me. Just asked what he meant, like I asked him a few weeks ago when his post included a character used in PERL: ‘$.’
But, while we're at it, want to say I’ve come to think the solution to my problem with CU is this : I need to become a better writer. I’ve come to recognize this and my own lapses in social skills, with the help of pm's from Rockmaster Mike and Manatee and some others going further back; and with the inadvertent ‘help’ of those who’ve called me out on this during the past 2 and 1/2 years.
Becoming a better writer is the solution to my frustration over not getting the type of feedback I’ve wanted here. If I prefer rigorous engagement---and not the light-heartedness that comprises much of the half a million posts here---well, then I need to write things that read more like a solid article on a news site or magazine or a good passage in a book, and less like something from someone’s personal journal. That’ll require strategic focus.
Still not ruling out the possibility of at least some truth to my claim that posting about unpopular ideas can lead to personal attacks. News flash there, right ? Don’t speak for other folk on CU who might think they have been targeted for abuse, but I would like to think I can become a good enough writer and thinker to deal effectively with adversity, here online and in-person.

Perhaps they are a vocal minority but still a minority.
Those people might be best ignored in favor of time spent addressing those who respond with their own reasoned and logical counter argument. It's WAY MORE FUN that way too!
