Can't get enough of the Short North Gallery Hop? One night a month is not enough to take in all the great Art, Music and Food Columbus has to offer.

The historic District in Olde Towne East is pulling together and creating a Olde Towne Gallery Hop event. This will be a monthly event featuring local artists and music. it will fall on the last Sunday of each month from 5-8. This month will be the very first Gallery opening, August 30th.

Olde Towne east is a beautiful community full of historic landmarks and architecture not to be found anywhere else in columbus. Support local art! Don't miss out on this event!!

Maybe all of these other hops will help prevent the much lamented "over crowding" from "tourists" during the Short North Gallery Hop.

Tigertree I understand and agree with you...but, there are a ton of artists in Columbus so having another day where artists can showcase their work is great...and hopefully, it doesn't take away from the Short North (which I'm sure is not the intention) but aids our Columbus artists and the businesses who support them. I'll only say one thing about the name...who cares? Really, the term "hop" is now a household name, why not use it? At least everyone will know what is going on and what they can expect.

Originality wins big! Truth is every other "Hop" tried locally has ______(<enter equivlent of sucked here) and doesn't gain traction that it should. I blame that partially on the name and mostly on the locations and lack of an existing art scene. I see the same thing happening here with this event sadly. In respect to the above comment that this "hop" isn't trying to take away from the short north hop is just hilarious to me. First you would have to out promote and out "art" a 20+ year tradition and then you would have to have a similarly clustered business district. That will be hard to do of the jump but when they destroy half of the retail in the area with the 70/71 improvements then what?

But when you are promoting art, which conveys at least some sense of originality and creativity...

I went to the movie theatre for the first time yesterday in at least a year. I don't go to many movies because of the originality aspect. I get tired of seeing such unoriginality in our culture. When I browse Netflix, I usually browse the independent, foreign or classic genres where I will probably have a much greater chance of seeing something wonderful and unique.

More power to the organizers for doing something to promote a neighborhood that needs it and helping give our local artists some more face time. I just kind of have an issue with people latching on to the 20 years of others' hard work.

We're also potential attendees of your event...

...uh, so... yeah. Guess I'll just stay home and play WoW, for the first time ever.

People on here generally just seem to love and adore anything that helps out neighborhoods. I think most of the criticisms I see here just come from a desire to see really dynamic, original, exciting events for our city. Not to speak for others, but i want to see your event succeed, I want to go to an exciting event in your neighborhood, and... another hop just doesn't excite me. Where's the hook?

It's not really malevolent idiocy, as much as it is constructive criticism.
