Speaking of magazines, has anyone heard about that other new one, CMH? Is the first issue is out? Someone sent me the link with the awesome pics they took of my friend Erin from Rossi (I'm so proud of her!!) so I want to get one to keep. Just checking!!

YP: Restaurant Week is still fresh in my mind, even without the previous one in March. Also, this thread topic isn't about you, so stop taking it personally. My statement is a generic/universal "you".
I stand by statement. If you, sorry, anyone wants to create this great event and they want to use a name that's already been used, do a focus group and see what other people in Columbus think of first. If top of mind is DOC's event, choose something else.

As for CMH, I heard it was supposed to come out in March but I've not seen a copy. Someone posted a press release on this website (Coremodels?) maybe he would know.

Release was delayed, I believe it is within the next couple weeks though (in April) right now. Website is live with the issue though already.

And now.... back on topic! "614Fan" posted a link to a TOP story to stir some shit up and was fairly effective. Let's get back to that.
Who deserves the rights to that name? The group that has used it in the past and recently used it, or the group that feels they deserve to under the letters of the law?
Grandview Art Hop vs Gallery Hop is ringing some bells with me.
My personal belief is that if you're truly interested in being a part of the community and had a great event, you wouldn't piggyback on an already established name.
Or at the very least you go to the original group and find a way to work within the established community to make the best damn restaurant week in the nation. Especially given the precedent on the national scene that RW is primarily a non-profit, community oriented gig.

It really is a shame too. I wouldn't ever root against 614 on spec, but its a pretty self dug grave at this point. Forget the missed opportunity to team with DOA and do the March Restaurant Week, forget the rather douchebaggy statements in the article (accusing DOA of finding out about 614's plans and launching their own RW to thwart them for one), forget even the ridiculous bad taste "joke" about dine and dashing.
At this point, I went from being very "I wouldn't read it, but live and let live" to "WOW...what a giant congregation of assclowns, and I'll go out of my way to spread the word". Not because of the above, but because of the "anonymous, unconnected supporters" who are neither, but showed up in this thread to defend the indefensible with ridiculous tactics.
Oh well.

I'm curious as to what the time line was for DOC. 614 trademarked in January for, what, a July event? If it takes them that long to plan their own, I fail to see how another group could put together an event in less than 3 months to thwart the first. Unless of course DOC had this planned out well before January (which I assume), which basically negates the "We thought of it first" argument.
