How'd their restaurant week turnout? I didn't hear much discussion of it, so I get the impression it was a bit of a flop. Nonetheless, I took advantage of it and had a really great meal at Sage.

I scanned through the most recent copty of the rag this weekend. I saw a few photos that looked really nice. I was a bit thrown of by the 2 page spread on Nikos and his artwork. I'm not sure that painting is that big in real life, but it really made me think there was a better way to layout the artists gallery and possibly with several images. I like the focus on art for sure , just wish they had a better in house design team working on the magazine. The only other stand out thing is that they hired a verty young if even graduated OSU student from the UWeekly camp that has been somewhat know for misquotes.
Not too fond of the magazine but since its free I will read it again. I would say 5 out of 10.

Coreroc,
It's more an issue of time than anything.

They don't have time to update the website thats for sure. Not knocking them as I enjoy seeing artists get a nod now and then, but the layout seems like a simple fix that screams design intern in the worst case scenerio.

Yeah, bad design drives me nuts. It's what I do every day and it drives me crazy to see people get lazy with it. And to put time out there as an excuse is ludicrous. If I thought the magazine could afford me, I'd offer to do the job right.

You do bad design every day? Seems then you aren't one who can criticize. Are you kidding? When even Lloyd Kaufman says Big Gus, What's the Fuss? is a terrible movie, you know it's got to be literally unwatchable.
If a bad designer who spends every day wallowing in bad design and sorts his bad designs into a badly-designed catalogue system of "designs: rated from least bad to most bad" tells me that a design is notably un-good, I'll probably take his word for it.

I can't wait to see what the next Columbus magazine will be named. Even the Columbus airport moniker has been used. What's next--43215 mag?
