@Tigertree, you just got my attention..what is this show "teacher talk?" is this on 90.5? What is it? (yes, I am a teacher).
It used to be on every Tuesday on WCBE but I don't see it on the schedule anymore. It was okay but nothing groundbreaking (I'm a teacher as well).

610? What? I just rock out to AM 820 or 90.5 when I want my NPR in stereo. ;)
I have listened to 610 before and could not take it. What really bothered me was the delivery method of the program I heard. They basically keep repeating the principles to the point of telling you what to believe. Then over simplifying the concept and adding a few trigger words. It seemed to way too much like social conditioning and brainwashing.

I guess we all have an attachment to our hometown drive-time standby.
When I first came to Columbus and heard Corby's "tell me a story about a toilet seat," "tell me a story about being in a snow storm," act, I thought it was the most Cowtown thing I had ever heard.
Then again, I grew up listening to Mike Trivisonno, who probably perpetuates the worst Cleveland stereotypes possible.
It is an interesting dynamic. Talk radio is such an intimate medium, really. We tend to only listen to it alone, and so it starts to feel like a one-way friendship in a way that most media is more about fan-dom.

Yeah, before being consumed by Clear Channel, they had all local personalities and engaging commentaries by Billy Ray, etc. They also had the rights to broadcast OSU football.
I never listen to to the rantings of Beck and Rush, but Conners does have the chops of well over 40 years in radio, most of it in Columbus, where's he's seen it all. Corby has the Everyman connection to the average joe, and he could probably run for mayor and obliterate the competition.
610 still has no peer when it comes to news coverage and weather updates. It's just too bad they sold out to the larger corporate machine.

Teacher Talk is on maybe 1-2 times a month on Tuesdays at 7ish? I think. It covers school board meetings, I think. I'm not sure because I always change the station. When I say cover, I should really say it's a live stream of the meeting. Which can only possibly be interesting to teachers ;)

That might be one of the ones I was referring to. It seems that between BC and Corby (more Corby though) there always seems to be one show that's just a pile on with no real back and forth.

Teacher Talk is on at 7 on the first and third Tuesday of the month, rightt before the first hour of the school board meeting. (Only the first hour is broadcast -- if you'd wanted all of the five hour extravaganza they held last Tuesday, for example you have to go to the school district's website.)

Columbus voted almost 70% for Obama. Franklin County voted about 60% for Obama and Strickland in 2006.
The crap that Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Levine, Connors, and Corby spew reflect what many old crackers and various knuckle-draggers think.
