I just want to take a second to say how much I love 311. I just called in about meters that were bagged from an event and should have been removed and seriously within five minutes someone was there to take the bags off. It is such an awesome, effective program. I have so many stories just like that from utilizing it.

Right now I'm trying to get help removing tires dumped in my alley. The city picked them up twice before, but as of yet they haven't picked them up the last two(!) times. Four instances over the last 15 years doesn't merit 24 hour surveillance, but mosquitos make sweet passionate love in those things faster than the bats in my garage do...
As I understand it vulcanization creates a giant molecule that doesn't go away, making tires difficult to dispose of. Our cars are pretty small, and the tires are big truck tires. It might sound like whining, but I don't want to pay to have them hauled away because of some gass-guzzler's laziness and ignorance...Posted 1 year ago # -
Ah, thanks for reminding me. Just called to request a new refuse container to replace my lidless crumbling brokeass one in the alley. Very fast and helpful.

I called them in the winter to get my street salted. They were here in about 30 minutes.

Hot line keeps city busy with to-do list

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCHIf calls to the city's 311 hot line show what residents care about, the answer clearly would be trash.
About two-thirds of the 974,000 reports taken since Columbus' 311 center started in 2006 have been about refuse collection, but that could be misleading because 311 is also the regular service line for bulk pickup. That service generated more than 76,000 service requests last year.

I've had a good experience with 311 as well, but I typically use the web site at http://311.columbus.gov.

They are doing a great job. Even with a significantly smaller budget and less manpower this year.

well they get a complaint pretty often from me about missed yard waste pickup.

You can now report issues to 311 with your iPhone/iPad:

I miss Mary Funk. She got it done, one call and over. RIP great lady.

I use my iPhone and the web to take advantage of this service. They do an outstanding job! I have reported two or three potholes and they have fixed them that day or the next day every time. Absolutely amazing!
