Mayor’s Twilight Ride – Friday, July 13, begins at 7:00 PM –Join Mayor Michael B. Coleman for the Third Annual Twilight Ride. Rides of 10 miles (before sundown) and 20 miles are offered. Event begins and ends at COSI where all riders return to WaterFire Columbus for free entrance, entertainment and bonfires on the riverfront. Cost is $25 (early bird) – or $50 for Twilight and Barbour Rides.

Steve Barbour Memorial Tour – Saturday July 14, at 7 AM, distances of 31, 62, 93 or 124 miles. Tours launch and return to COSI. Enjoy spectacular route into Hocking County, a great ride plus food. Lunch/Snack/Rest stops along the way. Cost is $40 or $50 for the Combination of the Barbour Tour and Twilight Ride.

Consider Biking is thrilled to be part of the 4th Annual BikeColumbus Festival along with the Institute of Active Living at Columbus Public Health and Columbus Outdoor Pursuits! The festival will begin on Friday, July 13 with the Mayor's Twilight Ride and After Party followed by the Steve Barbour Memorial Tour on Saturday, July 14. We're down at Genoa Park next to COSI (333 West Broad Street) on the downtown river front.

We need people like you to help us pull it off!! How about volunteering?

Every effort will be made to accommodate your volunteer request! Of course, you earn the requisite volunteer t-shirt. And if you volunteer Friday night, you get to ride the Saturday Barbour ride for free.

Friday, July 13:
4:00-5:30 pm: Family Pre-Ride Party
5:00 – 6:45pm: Twilight Ride Registration and Pre-Registration Pickup
7:00 pm: Start of the Mayor’s Twilight Ride
8:30 pm: Riders return to WaterFire Columbus to enjoy the music of enjoy music by Arnett Howard and a magnificent array of bonfires on the riverfront.

Noon to 10 pm: Visit the Food Truck and Cart Festival at Columbus Commons before or after the Twilight Ride

Downhill Crash Claims Barbour Tour Rider 7-14-2012

At approximately 10:15 on the morning of Saturday, July 14, a single vehicle crash claimed the life of Charlie Shu, a bicycle rider participating in the 3rd Annual Steve Barbour Memorial Ride.

Shu was one of approximately 250 riders participating in the annual event, a part of the Bike Columbus Festival, jointly sponsored by Columbus Outdoor Pursuits and Consider Biking.

Ira Weiss, Consider Biking Board Vice President, along with Frank Seebode, ride organizer, offered heartfelt condolences to Charlie's family, friends, and to the riders who assisted at the scene of the tragic accident.

Looks like the only curve on a straight farm road, occurring southbound right after exiting a dark canopy of trees. May have been wet at that hour as well.
